Big kudos to you for committing to join in the fun for Veganuary! We are excited to share with you how fun and delicious eating compassionately can be!


First, what is Veganuary, actually? Veganuary is a global campaign to spread awareness about our food system and to create a kinder, more compassionate world where animals are not bred for slaughter for products that damage our environment and can cause us serious health problems. Veganuary is also a month to expose another way of consuming and living, and to reveal that each of us can have a positive impact on the world around us simply by making small changes to the way we eat, what we wear, and our overall understanding and appreciation of animals as sentient beings.


Now, onto the good stuff! This week we're focusing on all things dairy, or plant-based dairy. People often say that they could go vegan if not for CHEESE! Well, there has never been a better time to drop that cow or goat cheese and opt for any number of amazing and delicious plant-based cheeses!

Myth: Milk does a body good and is a good source of calcium for strong bones.


Fact: The dairy and bone health link is one of the most pervasive milk myths. According to an analysis published in the British Medical Journal, most studies fail to show any link between dairy intake and broken bones, or fractures. Milk and other dairy products are the top sources of artery-clogging saturated fat in the American diet and have been linked to many types of cancer. Milk products also contain dietary cholesterol. Diets high in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol increase the risk of heart disease, which remains America’s top killer.

Myth: Plant-based milks are worse for the environment.


Fact: A glass of cows’ milk produces almost three times more greenhouse gas and uses nine times more land than any type of plant milk.
