Here's your copy of our most recent newsletter with our latest tips.
Kindly forward to your friends and family.  They will thank you.

The warm weather is finally here.
Thank you for coming, June!  We have missed you so much.

Our patients are out walking, gardening and being more active in the community.
With summer coming, our clinics see an increase in patients coming to us with avoidable injuries from everyday activities.
Don't forget to take care of yourself before, during and after your activity to ensure a pain free summer.

STRETCH - Before, during and after your activity (10 mins before, short breaks throughout and 10 mins after)

PACE YOURSELF- Start your activity slowly.  Start with 9 holes of golf instead of 18. Walk 5km before you run.

PLAN YOUR ACTIVITY- Do you have the appropriate equipment for the activity?  Do you need safety equipment? Is it a safe time of day?

ROUTINE- Be sure to stay hydrated and keep up the activity! #LifeIsBetterPainFree

Meet Hannah!

"What sets We-Fix-U apart is the staff. We are like a family. Since I started in November I have felt so welcomed here. I feel that having a staff that is like family truly makes a difference in the workplace. Work hard, have fun, make a difference. "   ~Hannah

Hannah is one of the Chiropody Assistants at our  Cobourg
clinic.  She has been with us since  November 2018 and quickly
fit right in with the team. Her care and attention to the patients is
amazing and if you have had the pleasure of meeting her,
you would agree that has earned the nickname  "Smiley   " Her
friendly smile and  charming demeanor  have been a hit with the
patients.  Hannah is an avid animal lover and has a  passion for
health care.  She is a graduate of the Nursing Unit Clerk
Program and Medical Device  Reprocessing Program at
Algonquin College.  You might recognize her from her previous
job at  Justin's Pet Store! She spends her spare time doing water
sports on Rice Lake and hanging out with  her 2 dogs, a Saint
Bernard named Wilbur and a Miniature Dachshund named
Cindy and her family. We are so happy to have Hannah as a
member of our Cobourg Chiropody Team. Next time you see
 her, Say "Hi Smiley!"

Many people spend a significant portion of their lives at work, and if your workplace causes misery because it's negative, your mental health can suffer. It can also recover.

How Your Workplace Can Hurt Your Mental Health
Unhealthy work environments can involve toxic supervisors, workplace bullying, inflexible policies, lack of control and freedom, or negative coworkers.
Workplace mental health challenges that can arise as a result include:
  • Heightened stress
  • Burnout
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Declining self-confidence
  • Substance use/abuse
  • Sleep problems
Protecting and Improving Your Mental Health at Your Job
It's possible to take control of your own mental health at work and make your job more positive. Try these tips:
  • Identify what is right and what is wrong. Increase what is right. Address what is wrong.
  • Respect yourself; you don't need approval from people you dislike.
  • Connect with positive people.
  • Calm your mind and body with deep breathing and mindfulness.
  • Make your own space a happy place. Include reminders of your values and goals.
  • Practice stress management outside of work.
  • When you are off work, be fully off. Focus on family, friends, and things you enjoy.
Workplace mental health is important. If you are in a toxic work environment, affect what you can-which is usually yourself.
