2020 New Year New Decade New Vision for GMS

2020 is off to a fantastic start here at GMS! First and foremost, we want to thank you for your business and loyalty to our organization. We have gone through many changes in the past 6 months that we believe will bring enhanced service levels and an overall better experience for you and your customers. 

We are very happy to announce that Robert Few is serving as our new President. Robert joined our team in December of 2019 and has already made a tremendous impact across the business. Many of you may already know Robert from the industry and for those that don’t know Robert we invite you to meet him this year at industry events like the CAA Palm Springs event in May and ESX in June. Robert wants to hear from you so please reach out with any feedback or concerns around how we can make GMS better for you. 

In January, Robert kicked off the new year with our team and provided our business with a fresh, new vision that will be guided by obsessing over our customers. Our team members have all been empowered to act like owners of the business and do what is right for our customers every single day. We also have a goal to make GMS the best place to work and we are providing new opportunities for leadership development and education for our team. We are confident that you will feel the positive impacts of our new vision as we move through 2020 and beyond!

We have big plans for GMS moving forward and these plans will be executed by developing deeper respect, trust and kindness both internally across our team, and together with our customers. GMS is on track to grow 15% in 2020, all while improving our service levels, providing you with better dealer automation tools and finishing up some of our system conversion activities that began in 2019. 

GMS leadership is committed to re-investing in our business. In 2020 we will be updating our office for our employees and investing in additional education and training for our team members. In addition, we are upgrading our IT systems, deploying a new billing system that will integrate with our automation system more seamlessly and we will have a fully operational disaster recovery site completed in 2020. 

We have heard the rumors too, so we want to address them head on. The owners of GMS are committed to building our organization for many years to come and passing it on to the third generation down the road. GMS is not for sale and you have our commitment that we will be serving you and your business for decades to come.

ESA Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month® 

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month®, a public awareness campaign that takes place to celebrate the value of Career Technical Education and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.

CTE is education that directly prepares students for high-wage, high-demand careers. From classroom learning, certification programs and work-based learning opportunities outside the classroom, CTE encompasses many different types of education. These programs are crucial to help ready the future workforce.

Over the last few years, ESA’s National Training School has been working with CTE schools to help promote the electronic security and fire life safety industry as a viable career path by helping students get a taste for the excitement of working in such a dynamic, innovative industry as ours and what it can do for them.

Some of our outreach has been:
  • Partnering with high schools to incorporate NTS Training into their programs
  • Working with high schools, career and vocational schools and adult education programs to promote the industry as a career path after graduation
  • Attending Job Fairs to represent the industry
