In recent years, there have been significant changes in the state laws with regard to the use and criminalization of marijuana in the USA. Marijuana is listed, federally, as a “Schedule I Drug.” While this has posed significant barriers to research, the relaxation of state laws has led to an increase in the research into its potential use in many different areas. This has understandably led to an increase in the use and distribution of marijuana, which has in turn, led to an increase in the detection of marijuana and metabolites in individuals involved in fatal aviation accidents. Learn more about the work done by the Aerospace Medical Research Laboratories at the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) in Oklahoma City, at reliably detecting its presence in the remains of airmen involved in fatal aviation accidents.
2018 Hall Visitors and Conference Attendees alike got to listen in on a candid conversation between ATO COO Teri Bristol and ATCA President and CEO Pete Dumont. This year's State of the ATO Fireside Chat is once again free to attend. Don't miss it on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2:30 - 3:15 p.m. in the Quesada Theater!
ATCA Annual Theater Dedications
ATCA Awards aren't the only way we're recognizing greatness this year!

With three theaters in the Exhibit Hall, this year's ATCA Annual is going to look a lot different. So we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize some of our air traffic management heroes, past and present, by naming the theaters after them! Here's a little info on our 2019 Theater Dedications.
Elwood "Pete" Quesada General Session Theater
Named after the first administrator of the FAA in 1959.
Eleanor Williams Presentation Theater
Named after the first African American FAA air traffic controller.
Heinz Erzberger Presentation Theater
Named after the father of the modern ATM system.
