Girls Dig It! Girls Inc. Hosts Virtual STEAM Camp
This summer, Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey led a one-week STEAM camp for 4th- 6th grade girls. STEM Kits were delivered to participants' homes so they could conduct experiments along with their peers and facilitators. The camp developed girls' analytical and interpretive skills as they worked alongside archaeologists to make discoveries about their own communities and cultures.

Participants deconstructed stereotypes about archaeology, used analysis and interpretation to identify artifacts from cultures and historical periods, and practiced archaeological skills during a mock fossil excavation. Participants also took a virtual tour of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and interacted with Dr. Alexandra Jones, a well-renowned Archaeologist.
