Hope-Mongering parent/caregiver support sessions

This month:

Meet Dr. Rachael Mullin, Camp Doc with T1D!

February 15 @ 7pm on Zoom

Dr. Rachael Mullin grew up with type 1 diabetes, went to camp, worked at camp, went to medical school, and is now an endocrinology fellow at OHSU.

All of this experience has given her a truly unique perspective on life with type 1 diabetes. She connects with campers, parents and patients with joy and optimism. Join the conversation February 15 at 7pm!

Rachael Mullin, who goes by "Dr. Cali" at camp, is a first-year pediatric endocrinology fellow at Oregon Health and Science University. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at eleven years old. At the time, she was a competitive swimmer and struggled to navigate how her condition would impact her future. Diabetes camp provided her the opportunity to meet other kids with type 1 diabetes (including swimmers!) and create her own diabetes community. Dr. Cali looks forward to volunteering at Gales Creek Camp again this summer as a camp doc and sharing her diabetes journey!

About Hope-Mongering:

Each month we recruit an array of key voices to host a series of conversations: parents, young adults who grew up with T1D, health coaches, educators, dietitians, T1D doctors and nurses, and of course the GCC summer camp crew. It's a magic formula for conversation on raising a young person with T1D. We'd love for you to join us and add your voice, or just sit back and listen. Feel free to bring topics or questions.
