Apartments with
Your Own Room
Frederiksen Court has four-person, four-bedroom apartments still available for next year.

Bedrooms, the kitchen and the living area are fully furnished, all utilities are included and there's a washer/dryer in each unit.

University Village is another great option to consider. These are two-person, two-bedroom layouts that are unfurnished.

Maybe you don't have roommates in mind? That's okay! You'll be assigned roommates and you're always on your own contract.

Just announced - we're adding single rooms to Maple, Willow and Larch halls for next year! What does that mean? You get your OWN room with a single set of furniture (plus an extra wardrobe - because who doesn't want more closet space?). It's the perfect way to experience the halls and have your own space to call home. You can choose a single beginning Feb. 12.

  • Find rates here.
  • Login to choose your single room here.

When you're in the system searching for rooms, the room type you select is "single w/AC." You can then filter to search for singles within a specific building to help narrow down your options.

All utilities are included and ISU Dining is offering returners to the halls all of the amazing meal plan options you have now plus the option of choosing a silver or bronze plan if you'd rather have a smaller meal plan.

If this was your first year on campus, COVID impacted a lot of the things we are normally able to do. What do you have to lose by giving campus life one more try - and do it in your own room?
Buchanan - All-Suite Building
Buchanan Hall is another option for a single room. The building has both single and double suites.

Each suite is set up to have a bedroom with sink and then is connected to another bedroom through a toilet and shower room.

In single suites, there is one person per bedroom. You'd have your own room and share the bathroom with one other person.

In a double suite, the bedrooms are bigger and there are two people per bedroom - meaning that four people share the bathroom.
Double as Single
What's a "double as single?" It's a room in a res hall that you ask to keep to yourself. Two sets of furniture stay in the room.

This is an option to consider if you want to be in a specific building, but that building doesn't have single rooms.

Here's an outline of how to get a "Double as Single" room for next year!
Selection Dates
  • Feb. 10: If you have the room you want, you can add roommates.
  • Feb. 10: Want your own room? You can select a double-as-single. Stop by 2419 Friley Hall to choose a room and fill out paperwork.
  • Feb. 11: Choose any available room in your current hall.
  • Feb. 12: All spaces open to select

All dates can be found here. If you were looking to move to a different room within your same house, there was a system error on Monday and that may not have been possible. You will be able to choose within your same house and hall on Feb. 11. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 515-294-2900 or email housing@iastate.edu.
