A Note from Troy Kastrup, CEO
“I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
Let’s jump on
that bandwagon. It’s kind of a relief. We can forget about missed goals, or in most cases, skipped goals. Skipped because we didn’t define what we needed to reach a goal.
Losing weight is hard, reading is great when you have time. How about cleaning out a garage? We’ll get to that after golf, after summer, after football. We all have things that address “me.” How about addressing “we”?
My dream for 2020 is to be rich!!! Yes, you heard me correctly. I want to be rich and I want to work with rich people. We should all want to be rich and only work with rich people. Why? Getting rich means taking from others, but
being rich requires giving to others.
I have a wonderful work family that works hard on being rich. They work hard to create rich experiences for their teammates, for the providers, for the communities we serve. They spend their time benefiting others. I have a work family that expects me to be rich, for them. Here is what they have taught me about being rich:
- Find a job that you will never want to retire from, and create an environment at your workplace where no one ever wants to leave.
- Give 2nd mile service to your customers – first mile is the typical customer service that anyone can deliver whereas second mile is the "go above and beyond” type of customer service.
- Don’t focus on getting sales, but work to create raving fans. Customers will never be bigger fans than your employees, so the first step is to create raving employees.
- Attract top talent? Become the business that the people you are looking for, are looking for. (Read that again as it is a bit confusing.)
I hope you have a rich 2020. Thank those around you for creating a rich experience in your ER, your office, your home. Thank you to my rich work family for sharing a podcast on being rich. I want this to be in your dream for the future.
