Welcome to our NEW Club E-News!
All we want for Christmas ... is snow!
President's Message
We are hoping that Father Christmas will come early to WNSC and deposit a healthy helping of snow before he heads out on his rounds! We also look forward to seeing lots of skiers and outdoor enthusiasts out on our trails over the holiday season. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with our Trail Etiquette and Trail Conditions and so that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. And stay tuned to our social media & website for more details on an upcoming Duathlon event! Merry Christmas!

Trail News
So far, so good! It seems that multi trail users have been respectful of the groomed trails and have stayed on their own designated paths. The multi use trails are not groomed - just self packed by those hardy enough to break trail. But they do pack down nicely and are very passable at present. Watch for these great new signs! And a friendly reminder that only approved volunteers (by Trailers Director & Exec) may clear trails.
Wapiti Nordic wins!
Our race team scooped multiple medals at their first provincial race in Canmore on November 24-25th. The Junior Race Team officially starts Jan 1, 2019 and is seeking up to four new athletes aged 8-10 years to join our team. Full details on all race team activities here
Memberships
Winter and annual membership are now on sale here ! Your membership helps cover operating costs for the trails and buildings along with liability insurance premiums. It offers excellent value for your fitness dollar and is a great way to spend time outdoors with like minded souls!
Rentals
Now that the trails have just enough snow and the Lodge is officially open, equipment rentals will be available from 12noon - 4pm on Saturday & Sundays. Full details here. All rentals on a first come basis.
Biathlon success at Calforex
Kudos to Wapiti Nordic biathlon athletes who brought home some hardware at the Calforex Cup Race #2 in Canmore on December 8-9th. Check out their podium pics here. WNSC is proud to be the host for the third Calforex Cup on Jan 12-13th and is currently seeking volunteers!

Our official start will be in January 2019 unless we have an epic snow dump before then (keep an eye our Facebook page & web page). The ladies meet on Monday and / or Thursday evenings at 7:00pm. It's a great way to meet new people and fit a ski into your evening. Headlamps required + technical ability to ski 3km (at any pace). Find out more about Chicks here

The Tanks are back in 2018-19! Join your fellow male nordic enthusiasts on Wednesdays at 7:00pm for a drop in evening ski! Find out more about this program here. Start date will depend on snow conditions & will be announced on social media.
Snowshoes & Fat Bikes
Wapiti Nordic is proud to offer options for non skiers! Check out our new multiuse single track trails (watch for special signs) and specific information on our Snowshoe and Fat Bike webpages. And don't forget to download the TrailForks app!
Buy & Sell page on website
Did you know that we have a Buy & Sell page on our new website? It's a great way to repurpose old gear or pick up some gently used equipment, especially if you are starting out. Simply submit a photo and some basic info - no fee to post. Check it out here!
Pets
Now that the snow is flying, our trails are closed to dog walking. However, skiers are permitted to bring their pets on the designated " dog trails" that are part of the north trail network (North Blue, Wolf and part of Centre Blue). Sorry, dogs are not permitted on the multi use trails.
Governance & Volunteering
A complete list of our monthly Board meeting Minutes are available in the Lodge (hard copy) or on the dedicated page on our website. lf you would like to contact our Board or volunteer at the Club in some capacity please email us.
Monthly Member Survey
Check out this month's question here > would you like to see Wifi at the lodge? Results from November 2018 survey question: Do you think WNSC should consider a new logo? 68% of the 63 respondents said Yes - it's time for an update, 15.5% said No - like it as is, 15.5% said Not Sure, and 1% said Not Applicable. So looks like we're on the hunt for a new logo! Stay tuned & keep involved in the process!
