President's Message
Welcome to the first edition of our new electronic monthly Club newsletter! Our goal is to keep our Members and local outdoor enthusiasts informed on activities hosted at our fabulous lodge and trail network. We hope that you enjoy the content of this newsletter and as always, we are open to your input! Open House - Sun, Nov 18th
Already a Member or thinking of becoming one? Come on down to our Season Opener between 12 noon and 3pm. There will be ski waxing demos, TrailForks app demos, memberships on sale (cash or cheque only), guided tours (weather dependent) and info on our new fat bike trails. Full event details here
Banff Mountain Film Festival

Trail News
Winter 2018 heralds the launch of our new multiuser trails (on a pilot / trial basis) whereby fat bikes will now be allowed on our snowshoe single track trails. Find out more at our upcoming Open House and be sure to watch for new signage! Users must stay off the groomed classic and skate tracks. Trail conditions and full details here
Memberships
Winter and annual membership are now on sale here ! Save 10% if you join before November 30th. Your membership helps cover operating costs for the trails and buildings along with liability insurance premiums. It offers excellent value for your fitness dollar!
Lodge Info
The lodge open and night lights will fire up once we have a significant snowfall. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages or check back on the website to find out the official hours.
Rentals
Once the trails have been blessed with a healthy layer of snow and the Lodge is officially open, equipment rentals will be available from 12noon - 4pm on Saturday & Sundays. Full details here. All rentals on a first come basis.
Adult Lessons
Adult classic and skate ski lessons dates are now available to preview. We offer Intro and Tune Up lessons plus Beginner, Advanced Beginner and Intermediate levels. Confirmed dates & times (pending adequate snow) are available here
Kids Jackrabbits
Introduce your child to the lifelong sport of nordic skiing! The 2018-2019 Jackrabbit program is now open for registration! Details on this great program and children's ski rentals are available here We are also seeking Leaders for this group - please email if interested.
Chicks on Sticks
Once there is enough snow on the ground this popular group will be hitting the trails Monday and Thursday evenings at 7:00pm. It's a great way to meet new people and fit a ski into your evening. Headlamps required + technical ability to ski 3km (at any pace). Find out more about Chicks here
Tanks on Planks
The Tanks are back in 2018! Join your fellow male nordic enthusiasts on Wednesdays at 7:00pm for a drop in evening ski! Find out more about this program here. Start date will depend on snow conditions & will be announced on social media.
Snowshoes & Fat Bikes
Wapiti Nordic is proud to offer options for non skiers! Check out our new multiuse single track trails (watch for special signs) and specific information on our Snowshoe and Fat Bike webpages. And don't forget to download the TrailForks app!
Ski Race Team
Coming off the 2017-18 season as the "Most Improved Medium Sized Club", the race team have been training hard and are looking forward to a successful season ahead with Provincials in the coming weeks! All they need is more snow!
Biathlon
Our biathlon athletes have been working on their conditioning to prepare for a strong competitive season ahead. WNSC is proud to be the host for the third Calforex Cup on Jan 12-13th and is currently seeking volunteers!
Pets
Now that the snow is flying, our trails are closed to dog walking. However, skiers are permitted to bring their pets on the designated " dog trails" that are part of the north trail network (North Blue, Wolf and part of Centre Blue).

Wapiti Nordic Ski Club (WNSC) is a volunteer driven, membership based regional service club. We rely on the support and dedication of our volunteers at the Board, coaching and grassroots levels, along with municipal and corporate sponsors. WNSC welcomes persons of all abilities, fitness levels, ethnicity and backgrounds. We are stewards of the Crown land that our trails are located on, and operate under a recreation lease governed by Alberta Environment and Parks.
