Fantastic Fall = Super Snow Season?

Trail access still open during construction

At the moment, it takes some degree of determination and navigation to access our trails but they are still open with parking at the biathlon stadium (via the "back way" on RR64 or the detour off Hwy 40 to the north trail head. Please use caution in construction zones and hopefully normal access will resume before the ski season starts. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook for updates on this topic.

Ski Swap: Nov 5 @ Lodge

Looking to get into XC ski this winter but don't have the gear? You might strike it lucky at this year's event. Got stuff to sell? > drop off Friday Nov 4th @ 6-8pm. Want to purchase? > come by Saturday Nov 5th 9am-12noon. Cash, Visa or Mastercard. Pick up unsold gear & cash for good sold > 12:30-2pm. Note: the road detour may still be in place - check our website before leaving home. Banff Mountain Film festival tickets will also be available for sale (cash only) - see below ...

Film Festival: Jan 13-15th

It's back!! At the regular time of year: Fri Jan 13th, Sat Jan 14th and Sunday, Jan 15th @ 7:00pm, AND at the College/ Northwestern Polytechnic theatre! This is Wapiti Nordic's largest fundraising event so we hope to see lots of members, family and friends out enjoying one, two or all three of the different programs. Fall General Mtg: Nov 20

Club members - and those interested in joining - all invited to our Fall General Meeting on Sunday, Nov 20th @ 1:00pm. There will be reports from each of our program areas, the annual budget will be reviewed and the Board will share their focus areas for 2023 from the Club's business plan. We also hope to nominate a new volunteer Secretary at the meeting and share some social time with attendees afterwards. Agenda will be posted in advance. See you there!

Seeking Lodge Attendants for 2022/23

We have a great paid part-time weekend gig opportunity for people who enjoy interacting with others, and the option for some weekday shifts too. Duties include helping with ski rentals (training provided) and opening/ closing the lodge during our peak season from November to March. See the full Position Description and if interested, email our Operations Coordinator for further details. 

Explore Wapiti Nordic!

There's still time time before the snow flies to get out for a guide hike on Monday evenings. Meet at the lodge at 6:30pm - all you need is a headlamp and a day pass or membership. Once the snow starts to pack down the ski trails will be closed for hiking access, and pedestrians will have to switch to the multi purpose trails as shown on our maps

Bunnies & Jackrabbits registration opens Nov 1

Got a "little" aged 4 to 10 and want to introduce them to the wonderful life long activity of XC skiing? Don't delay - these sessions include ski rentals (to take home) Dec-March and classes fill up fast! For kids 10+ we have Go Ski Girls and Boys Club. Parents are encouraged to participate too and make it family fun! Full details on our website  And watch for a Biathlon Bears "Try It" day on our social media.

Chicks on Sticks

Planning is in the works for this popular ladies program Monday and Thursday evenings as soon as there is enough snow. Also for a Women's Ski Day Clinic - date to be determined. Ladies will learn all about  how to fit skis, what to wear when skiing, and learn how to wax your skis, then have a classic XC technique lesson. Fun! 

2022-2023 Race Team now accepting new athletes

Has your child graduated Jackrabbits and is looking for a new challenge? Or do they have some XC experience, are 7-18 years of age and seeking to switch to a new sport? Preview the Race Team brochure then reach out to Coach Claire for more info if you are interested in this excellent program!

Wapiti Nordic Ski Club (WNSC) is a volunteer driven, membership based regional service club. We rely on the support and dedication of our volunteers at the Board, coaching and grassroots levels, along with municipal and corporate sponsors. WNSC welcomes persons of all abilities, fitness levels, ethnicity and backgrounds. We are stewards of the Crown land that our trails are located on, and operate under a recreation lease governed by Alberta Environment and Parks.
