Late last year, City Council approved the 2023 Budget with a 3.67% mill rate increase. For the average home valued at $315,000, this means an increase of $6.85 per month ($82.20 annually) in 2023.
The approved mill rate is 1% lower than what was proposed. To achieve this, Council directed administration to increase efficiencies and reduce internal City expenditures by $2.9 million. Savings were found in budgets for travel, training, consulting, and by reviewing vacant positions, without negatively impacting service delivery.
The 2023 Budget also includes new strategic investments that will make Regina a more vibrant community, improve safety and well-being for residents, and drive economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. About $9 million in operating and $75 million in key capital investments are invested over the next two years to support these priorities.
