Ward 11 Community Update

Fireworks in Mississauga

The City is conducting research to better understand how you feel about the use of fireworks in Mississauga. Until March 31, you’re invited to take an online survey to share:

·        Your views and experiences with fireworks

·        Your top priorities when it comes to fireworks-use in the city

·        Your feedback on the rules for using fireworks in Mississauga.

The City has a Fireworks Licensing and Use By-law to regulate the use of fireworks within Mississauga. Currently, you can use fireworks at home, on your private property, from dusk until 11 p.m. on Lunar New Year, Victoria Day, Canada Day and Diwali, and until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day. To use fireworks in a public street or park, or at home on any day other than these designated holidays, you must apply for a permit from the City

Mississauga Develops a Renoviction By-Law

The City of Mississauga is seeking your involvement to help shape a proposed by-law addressing tenant renovictions. Unlawful renovictions happen when landlords evict tenants to complete renovations and fail to follow the N13 process under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA).

Mississauga tenants, landlords and community members are invited to share any experiences they may have had with unlawful renovictions to help our staff shape the by-law. Have your say:

1.   Join the virtual community meeting on Wednesday, April 9 at 6 p.m.

2.   Complete the online survey, which is available until Wednesday, April 16.

3.   Complete the survey in person at your local library location. A library staff member can assist you with using a library computer and loading the webpage. Simply ask for help at the front desk.

Visit mississauga.ca/renoviction for more information and to get involved.

Peel Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

Peel Region is asking the community to complete a short survey to provide input for its 2026-2030 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan (MYAP). This feedback will help shape an accessible and inclusive future.

The survey is asking people with disabilities, their caregivers, friends and families, as well as community agencies, business owners and the public to help identify barriers people with disabilities experience when accessing Peel Region services.

The survey is available in many formats including on-line and in a printed form which can be downloaded and emailed to Peel Region. Additionally, those wishing to speak with Peel Region, can complete the survey by calling 905-791-7800 and speaking with one of Peel’s Customer Service Representatives. The survey closes on April 15, 2025. It’s available at peelregion.ca/accessibility-survey.
