Councillor's Message

Dear neighbours,

Did you remember to turn your clocks back one hour?  This is also a perfect opportunity to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.

I would like to thank those who are doing everything they can to adhere to the gathering guidelines in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please keep to essential trips only and limiting your interactions with those outside your immediate household.

If my office can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Rat Strategy at Region of Peel

Regional Council has endorsed moving ahead with a strategy to deal with the increasing rat populations in the city and region. In Ward 8, we have started to see more rats during the extensive sewer and watermain replacements projects. Calls were handled by Peel health, but there were no supports in place to assist residents to get rid of them.
Now residents can take advantage of a pilot one-year subsidy program to help them deal with exterminating the rats. The program will run as a subsidy while staff work on a larger ongoing strategy. The program will include education as there are many ways that homeowners can deter rats from invading their properties.

When information becomes available on how to apply, it will be posted on the Ward 8 website.
