6550 Glen Erin Drive Update

On June 24th, the final recommendation report for 6550 Glen Erin Drive was approved by Planning and Development Committe.

This approval permits a 12 storey residential apartment with 174 units to be built adjacent to the existing 15 storey buildings at the southwest corner of Glen Erin Drive and Battleford Road. The use and density meet the Official Plan policies but the land required rezoning to proceed.
Erin Mills Town Centre Development Meeting

Thank you to all who attended the Open House on June 26 to view the proposal for residential development at Erin Mills Town Centre.

The application has not yet been submitted so this was a very early in the process meeting to show what is proposed at the southeast corner of Glen Erin Drive and Hazelton Place.

It was exciting to announce at this meeting that there will be a new Entertainment complex including a movie theatre built in the old Sears Store. The other part of the store will be a Marshall's. Watch for more details coming soon.
Reimagining the Mall

Parking Matters : Mississauga Parking Master Plan

Council recently endorsed the City's first Parking Master Plan and Implementation Strategy . The plan outlines how local parking will evolve as the City continues to grow and transform.

This is the result of a two-year study that gathered input from decision-makers, parking providers and parking users. Extensive public consultation ensured that the plan’s goals and objectives reflect the needs of Mississauga residents. Thank you to all who participated and contributed your ideas and comments.

Etiquette when using our parks
Our parks are a place for everyone to enjoy and to do so safely. I continue to get complaints about dog owners walking their dogs off leash in woods and parks. This is against City bylaws but it is also inconsiderate of others and can be dangerous.

I recently received a call about an off leash dogs attacking a resident in Sugar Maple Woods - this is simply unacceptable, as off-leash dogs are only permitted in designated areas. If you want to exercise your dog please do so in the off leash parks. For more information on Leash-Free parks in Mississauga, please visit leashfreemississauga.ca

Settler's Green Public School 40th Anniversary
It was such a pleasure to attend the Settler's Green public School's 40th Anniversary celebrations! Settler's Green is an important institution in our ward and has educated generations of Meadowvale citizens and continues to do so with its excellent academics and extra curricular activities.
AccessAbility Week Wrap Up
As a member of the City's Accessibility Advisory Committee, I joined other members and colleagues to end Accessibility Week by unveiling two new changes at City Hall.

We unveiled the new centre railing for the stairs in Council Chambers and electric wheelchair charging stations in Celebration Square! Making our city more accessible and inclusive is one of my priorities.
Takara Belmont Opening
On June 7th, I was happy to attend the grand opening of Takara Belmont's new facility in the Meadowvale Business Park.

Takara Belmont is a global distributor of dental and beauty equipment. Locally, this company has brought many jobs to Mississauga, while ultimately boosting the global economy.
Annual Mississauga Sports Dinner
On June 12 , I had the honour of presenting a special award to the family of the late Nikki Ross. The Mississauga Sports Council inducted Nikki into the Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame!

Nikki was well known as former president and an umpire and more with Mississauga North baseball Association. She built the women umpire program and encouraged young women to be involved in baseball as umpires and players.

Nikki’s husband Ian and son Matt accepted the award. It was an emotional time as we all miss Nikki’s infectious energy and enthusiasm. I counted her as a friend and still miss her after 6 1/2 years.

She earned her place in the Hall of Fame and I am so proud I had the opportunity to be a part of the ceremony at the Awards Banquet.
Councillor Parrish's Annual Milk Fund Event
I had a wonderful evening at Councillor Parrish's annual Milk Fundraiser for Mississauga food banks. The theme this year was "country" and we all had a blast despite the wet weather. This event raised approximately $145 000 for our Mississauga Food Banks!
