May 22, 2019
Dear Resident:

It looks as if spring is finally here. I hope you are enjoying the better weather and taking advantage of our numerous trails and parks in Ward 9.

I had the pleasure in May of presenting about 40 Ward 9 residents with the Ward 9 Volunteer Award. Our communities are great as a result of the dedication and commitment of these wonderful residents and I enjoyed having the opportunity to thank them.

Please enjoy the information in this months newsletter and let me know if you have any questions about any of the articles.

As always you can contact me for assistance on any city or region issue at pat.saito@mississauga,ca, by phone to 905-896-5900 at any time and my staff and I will be pleased to help you.

The report that was supported by all 4 municipalities clearly shows that Mississauga taxpayers would be further ahead as a stand alone city. 6550 Glen Erin Drive - Recommendation Report

The Planning and Development Committee will be discussing the Recommendation report for 6550 Glen Erin Drive on June 24th at its evening meeting at 6:30pm. This application is for development of a 12 storey, 208 unit apartment building on the existing property. I have not seen the report yet so do not know what the Planning staff recommendation will be. This application is beyond the intensification area and the additional density is not accommodated in our infrastructure. Click here for more information.

Be Cautious of Door-to-Door Sump Pump Sales
We have had reports of salesmen going door to door trying to sell sump pumps to residents and claiming to be from the City. The City of Mississauga does not employ or authorize companies to install sump pumps on the City's behalf.

Door-to-door sales people may use high-pressure tactics. We recommend all residents exercise caution before providing any personal information to sales people or committing to a service.

You are encouraged to call 3-1-1 or 905-615-4311 for correct information about City or Regional services and programs. Customer Service Advisors are available to answer resident inquiries, Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Digital Overpass Project
Meadowvale has a new entrance sign on Winston Churchill south of the 401.

This is a project that includes the installation of digital advertising on the CP bridges in. On most bridges the City of Mississauga brand is displayed but on ours, at my request, the name "Meadowvale" is prominently displayed to welcome people to our community. These bridges are not governed by the City and we have minimal control over their use but we were able to get the owners to include city signage and provide us with space to advertise meetings and events.
Vegetarian Food Fair
Presented by Fo Guang Shan Temple of Toronto and Buddha's Light International Association of Toronto, this annual event encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to come and explore over 60 varities of multicultural vegetarian foods.
