What's Happening in the Ward and City
We value and depend on citizens to become involved in the city. One of the main ways you can do this is to sit on one of the citizen committees. It is such an honour for me to serve on many of these with dedicated and engaged citizens. We depend on their feedback and input on many issues.
The Clerk’s Office will be accepting applications for appointments to committees of Council beginning on Tuesday,
November 29, 2018 – Friday, January 4th
, 2019. Please visit
In addition, the Clerk’s Office will be hosting an open house in the Great Hall on
between 6-8pm to provide information to the public about the committees and application process.
We are holding a meeting on Monday
at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall to discuss the issue of cannabis retail sales and where it should be allowed to be consumed. I want to hear from my residents so please follow the link to get more
information and take the survey
that we have prepared. Council will be discussing on
I personally will be asking Council to "opt out" of the retail sales until we have a more complete picture of what we will be facing should it be sold in private stores in the city. We need much more consultation with residents and with police before we make a decision that we cannot go back on. There are many concerns with private retail sales and before making such an important decision we have to have all the facts and allow our citizens ample time for input and discussion.
Please take this opportunity to have your say on the 2019 budget. I want to hear from you and there are many ways you can get involved. Last year I held a Budget Town Hall which was live streamed on Facebook. This was very successful and this year the City will be doing this citywide.
