WAREHAM NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS

Get your company and team members in front of this important research cluster.

Wareham's long-term relationships with our tenants and the greater Bay Area research community make our networking events popular. Besides our two monthly Wareham hybrid luncheon speaker series, we have great venues at our EmeryStation Research Campus and our Aquatic Park Research Campus to host daytime or after-work panel programs or other networking events.

Please contact Judy Wetterer to discuss your ideas for a speaker series lunch* or for other networking opportunities. We look forward to helping you make those ideas happen and to helping you and your team meet your goals.

WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Berkeley FILM Foundation receives a three-year, $1.5 million grant.

The Berkeley FILM Foundation (BFF) has received a $1.5 million grant from the Saul Zaentz Charitable Foundation to augment its grants and programming initiatives to bolster the vibrant community of filmmakers who work and live in the East Bay.

A film festival will be held in September screening several of the Oscar-winning films of legendary Saul Zaentz, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The English Patient.

The BFF was founded in 2009 by Wareham Development, the City of Berkeley, and the Saul Zaentz Company. To date it has awarded 181 grants totaling $2.08 million.

Funds are also being raised for a separate $1 million match.

Wareham, Bayer, Councilmember Taplin, and community partners

tour amazing BUSD's CTE facilities at Berkeley High.

Coming out of the pandemic, Wareham started to focus with the Berkeley Public Schools Fund and BUSD's Career Technical Education (CTE) program on out-of-school time programs to compensate for time lost during the pandemic.

As of last year with Wareham’s support, the Schools Fund is offering a ladder of K-12 programs on weekends and in the summer for students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in STEM. The intent is to provide lots of exploration for kids in everything from carpentry to robotics to digital audio so that when they get to Berkeley High, they have an idea of what they’re good at, what they’re passionate about, what’s going to be that “hook” for them in high school that contributes to their wider success.

We think the CTE program is offering the most exciting learning opportunities at BHS and we want to ensure that a diverse group of students are taking advantage of them. Next BUSD will build new classrooms dedicated to Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing to house these rapidly growing program areas.

The Schools Fund and BUSD annually match Wareham’s funding and partner to manage the STEM programming. More info may be found here.

Our thanks to the Erin Rhoades, Wyn Skeels and the entire dedicated team for all the hard work.
