This week, the Lincoln Square BID successfully installed its 10th Citibin! The new Citibin, located at Broadway and West 61st Street, makes a big difference in our Sanitation program. Each container can hold approximately 25 bags of trash at a time and securely stores the public’s trash that our Clean Team sweeps up for pickup by the NYC Department of Sanitation. Significant snowfall and freezing temperatures are expected in NYC this weekend. Predictions could change in the coming days, but some forecasts show a possibility of more than six inches of snow and a high of 20 °F on Sunday. Our dedicated Clean Team will be out in the neighborhood, clearing the corners, crosswalks, bus stops, fire hydrants, and Citibins, but property and business owners must do their part, as well, and remove snow and ice from sidewalks outside their buildings and businesses. Extell Development is continuing its demolition work at the former ABC/Disney site (West 66th to 67th Streets). From Monday, January 19, to Sunday, February 1, the scope of work includes demolition of the existing buildings located at:
- 147 Columbus Avenue,
- 149 Columbus Avenue,
- 77 West 66th Street, and
- 47 West 66th Street.
Pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular routes will remain open around the construction site, per approvals from the NYC DOT. Flagmen will be deployed to construction trucking entry and exit locations. The work hours of operation are anticipated to be 7:00am to 6:00pm from Monday to Friday. Hours for Saturday, if needed, will be 9:00am to 5:00pm.
