Here's a lightweight top that pairs with jeans or leggings for when you want a touch of lace. Worked in the round from the bottom up, the knitting divides at the armhole and features delicate lace that moves from the hemline to the shoulders. The body is A-line shaped for a loose, swingy silhouette.

YARN: Rylie by HiKoo, a DK weight yarn that's 50% baby alpaca, 25% mulberry silk and 25% linen. Our sample top was knit on US #6 Addiclick needles using the short tips made up to a 24" needle. The color shown is "Pearl," color 092.

PATTERN: "Reposado" by Thea Colman. Available as a download on Ravelry. Many of the sizes (there are seven) take 3-4 skeins. Our sample is knit as a 45" bust and used two full skeins and a little bit of the third skein of Rylie.

A DIY Project Featuring

Duck Tape!

Hello, Fiber friends!

My DIY mood kicked in over the weekend. I took a small cardboard box -- this one is a USPS Priority Mail box -- and covered it with turquoise Duck Tape. The original plan was to use the tape to smooth out the jagged cardboard edges, but I got carried away.

I covered the sides and even duck-taped (is that a word?) a liner for the bottom of the box.

That's a potholder project in the box with (of course) Zauberball Crazy Cotton. By now you have figured out that here at Graywood Designs we are big fans of Zauberball in all of its iterations! You'll get to see more of the potholder project in a week or two.

You might be able to find a good selection of tape colors in the kid's art section of a big grocery store. The household section had basic tape, but not a lot of colors. Certainly places like Joann's would have this tape, too.

I like the open box for working on a project because I can see the yarn, colors and all. The knitting strand doesn't get caught along a rough edge. AND it's just plain fun.
