Forensic Interviewers:
Are you attending peer review at minimum 2 times a year as required by the NCA Standards?
Resolution:
CACI recommends that in addition to regular attendance at Peer Review, that interviewers are presenting their interviews for feedback at least 1 time a year.
Are you keeping an up to date curricula vitae?
Resolution
: You work hard to attend ongoing training. Forensic interviewers should be keeping copies of certificates, and an up to date list of all the trainings attended. Make a habit of updating this regularly. NCA standards require forensic interviewers to attend at minimum 8 hours of training in child maltreatment and/or forensic interviewing every 2 years.
Advocates:
Are you actively having ongoing regular contact with the families you serve?
Resolution:
NCA Standards require that advocates have active outreach and follow up support for caregivers consistently available. CACI has examples of on-going advocate check lists if this is not an area of strength for your agency.
Are you taking time for your ongoing educational opportunities?
Resolution:
Victim advocates are required by the NCA Standards to attend a minimum of 8 hours of training every 2 year in the field of victim advocacy and child maltreatment. Midwest Regional Childrens Advocacy Center has a monthly webinar schedule that will assist in meeting this standard as well as additional training opportunities found on the CACI training website!
