Donations for Warming Tree Being Accepted
We collected more than 800 items with our Warming Tree last year.

This holiday season, we will once again be collecting warm hats, gloves, scarves, and blankets to donate to members of our community.

All items collected will be distributed to families in Columbia County through the St. Helens Elks Lodge and the Holiday Hope program.

We ask that donations be turned in by December 9 so we are able to deliver them in time for Christmas. Donations may be new, handmade, or gently used items.

This will be the third year we have collected items with our Warming Tree.

5 Tips to Keep Your Heating Costs Down this Winter

When it's colder outside, it takes more energy to heat your home - even if you don't adjust your thermostat.

Here are five tips to help keep your heating costs down this winter:

  1. Lower your thermostat and dress a little warmer.
  2. If you have zonal heat, only heat the rooms you actively use.
  3. Clean or replace your furnace filters regularly.
  4. Don't block heaters with furniture, decorations, or other items.
  5. Use space heaters wisely.

Keep Yourself Safe from Utility Scam Attempts

Posing as a utility employee is a common scam. Scammers will try this in person, over the phone, via text, or by email.

Typically they will threaten to shut off your power if they don't receive payment immediately.

Please be diligent, protect your personal information, and avoid becoming a victim.
