Own It to Win It

Down Syndrome Style

By Adrian Drower,

Self-Advocate & Board Member

How do you survive in life?

Now, explain your differences.

You may not know it right now,

but that is how you survive.

“Who Are You?” your heart screams out,

trying to have its own voice.

Your stomach screams out as well,

most times, all it wants is food.

Your Down Syndrome also speaks out,

It tells you, “Own It to Win It”.

Confusion moves in your mind now,

we have to know- what does it mean?

It means- be proud of who you are.

It means- be proud that you’re living.

It means- you take pride in what you do.

It means- Down Syndrome is your style.

So now, let’s Own our unique style,

Let’s show ourselves- we can do this!

We can Own It to Win It…

Down Syndrome Style!
