March 29, 2022
Dear friends,
Late March is a challenging time in Maine, with late-season snow vying with longer, brighter days which call for spring even as a chill stays in the air. The crocus and snowdrops are blooming here, though, and the promise of fresh leaves and life emerging from the coldest months is all around.
As the days warm, we find ourselves moving more, unfurling into a new season, and looking forward to more time outdoors. At The BTS Center, we're also excited to bring you even more thoughtful programming, including some in-person offerings which take advantage of the bountiful beauty of Maine.
Of course, warming in these times also carries a more somber meaning. The recently released report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) names what many of us already know to be true — that the warming of our planet is accelerating, and that time is short to change the course. This is difficult, complex knowledge to hold as we attune to the impact on our communities, our world, and ourselves.
As you live with these truths in your body and heart, we invite you to join us for Lament with Earth on April 20 — a place to name grief and find solace in community. We hope you will also join us for one or more of our other spring offerings, including a Wonder and Wander at Tir na nOg Farm in Pownal, Maine, our EcoSpiritual Leaders course, or one of our Group Spiritual Direction Circles for clergy and other spiritual leaders.
We are holding you all in the light and warmth of spring.
With best wishes,
