Spring into Warner: Sat. May 18

Warner Area Farmer’s Market – Opens May 18 for an extended crafts market and time 9-2 (for Spring into Warner) and continues to Oct .13 (Warner Fall Foliage Festival). Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm at Warner Town Hall.

The Warner River Local Advisory Committee (WRLAC) will have an information table on the Library lawn.

Warner’s 250th will hold an unveiling of the new covered bridge signs carved by Jim McLaughlin, with hardware by Rhett Courser – Sat. May 18, 10 amDalton Covered Bridge (W. Joppa Rd) and 11 am at the Waterloo Covered Bridge (Newmarket Rd/ Waterloo). Limited parking in each location, please be respectful of the neighbors. Please consider walking down the Rail Trail from the library to the Dalton Covered Bridge. Remarks will be made at each location. Join us afterwards on the lawn of Sugar River Bank at 12 noon for the unveiling of the “lawn cake” and cupcakes.

KCPA will be performing excerpts from the upcoming SPRING SHOW 2024 Peter and the Wolf Ballet and The Variety Show during SPRING INTO WARNER, May 18th inside Warner Town Hall 10:00 am-12:00 noon. Free family friendly event! If you attend you will receive a free trail class pass for any of our regularly scheduled classes!

The Warner Democrats garden enthusiasts fundraiser will offer house plants, home-started seedlings in new soil, seeds, gardening tools, garden decor, gardening books, and other garden-related items. Come visit us in front of Family Tree on Saturday, May 18, from 9-1pm and take home something by making a donation.

BITSetc will have 2 mini- horses for you to visit and groom at the Telephone Museum parking lot 9 am to noon, during Spring into Warner. Donations to support the work of Back in the Saddle Equine Therapy Center (BITSetc) welcomed!

Velvet Moose Ice Cream Shoppe will be open 1-7 pm on May 18, and for the rest of May on Sat. and Sundays 2-7 pm. Stop by after the noon cake unveiling at Sugar River Bank, or after the Chicken and biscuits supper at the Church!

The United Church of Warner will host a community supper May 18, 4:30-6:00pm. Chicken and biscuits, with sides and dessert, $15.00 for adults. Enjoy “Spring into Warner”, then enjoy this favorite meal. Part of income goes to the Warner Food Pantry.

Herb and Garden Day will be held June 1st on the grounds of the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum. Tickets at eventbright: https://www.facebook.com/events/849743780223002 are cheaper if purchased online in advance than at the gate.

The museum will host a plant sale at the front entrance on Saturday, June 1 during museum open hours, 10 am - 4 pm. It's free to attend the plant sale but regular admission applies to tour the museum. Donations of plants and gardening accessories can be dropped off on tables at our front entrance starting Wednesday, May 29th.

Meet and Greet with Sherry Gould - Monday, June 10th 6-8 pm at The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum. Sherry Gould will share information about Abenaki culture and her basket making skills. She will also bring baskets she has worked on.

Town residents are invited to assist in revising the Town website. Please bring your ideas, thoughts, opinions of what works, and what doesn’t work with the website.

The Supervisors of the Checklist will be meeting Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00pm at the Town Hall in their office on the second floor. They will accommodate anyone on the first floor if needed. This is the last day to CHANGE YOUR PARTY for the September Primary. No party changes can be made after this date.

Other changes, such as name or address, and new registrations can be made. If you are a student that has turned 18, and want to vote, please register early.

New Registrations require a birth certificate and/or passport, as well as a photo ID, and something to show residency. Usually a NH license meets that requirement as long as it has a physical address on the license.

You may always make changes and register at the Town Clerk's Office during normal business hours.

Warner Stream Monitoring Training

Volunteers who would like to assist with stream monitoring this year will receive training on Thursday May 30th at 5pm in the lower meeting room in the Warner Town Hall. Training will include how to use the testing equipment and how to collect and identify macroinvertebrates. This is a great opportunity for citizen scientists to learn more about our amazing watershed ecosystem. Additional information at https://warner.nh.us/tow/temp/ConComMonitoring.pdf

Stretchy plastic recycling NEWS - The recycled wood/plastic bench earned by the collection and recycling of 1000 lbs of plastic film will be unveiled on Friday May 31 at 1:15 pm at Simonds School, at a school assembly, public is invited. Thank you to all who sorted their plastic film waste and brought it to the library or school. This has also helped reduce plastic waste volume sent to the incinerator, which reduces what the Town pays to have hauled away, and also reduces pollution.

Another Warner organization will soon start collecting. Meanwhile, you can deposit your clean plastic film in the box inside Market Basket's entrance. We also encourage you to try to reduce the amount of plastic waste, by choosing reusable bags, food containers, and items NOT wrapped in shrink wrap.
