Interesting NH law update: This past summer the Governor signed into law an update that went into effect last month: RSA 31:6-a Holiday Designations. "Any municipality, town, village, or unincorporated place that adopts a holiday on a date indicated in RSA 288:1 shall use the appellation for such holiday designated in RSA 288:1 with respect to any official communication, publication, document, or calendars."
One impact appears to be that Towns will have to refer to the upcoming holiday on Oct. 14 as Columbus Day rather than Indigenous Peoples' Day. The 3rd Monday in January is officially "Martin Luther King, Jr. Civil Rights Day", and the 3rd Monday in February is "Washington's Birthday" not Presidents' Day.

The Conservation Commission's Sept. 27 hike on the proposed mountain bike trail in Rollins State Park on Mt. Kearsarge was postponed due to parking lot paving. It is unclear if the proposed bike trail will be a single track trail or a multi-use trail. Other questions and concerns have been raised about the impact of the proposed trail on the environment and the Town. Watch for news of the rescheduled hike
