Help find the next recipient for Warner’s Boston Post Cane

The Post passed out of existence years ago, but the tradition of the cane survives in New Hampshire and Warner, where it is still passed to the oldest resident. The Warner Selectmen in conjunction with the Warner Historical Society award the cane and a certificate to the oldest citizen and the cane is then kept at the Warner Historical Society.

Contact the Warner Historical Society if you or a family member were born between 1925–1935 and are still living in Warner. 603-456-2437 or info@warnerhistorical.org

Giving Thanks

A big Thank You to the many volunteer members of Warner's committees, commissions and boards in Warner! Please take time to thank any of them you know that you appreciate them contributing their time and expertise to help our Town keep abreast of applications, projects, legal requirements, public opinion, grant possibilities, and much more, on topics from A (Agriculture) to Z (Zoning.)

To see how much they do, check out the Minutes at https://warnernh.gov/minutes/

A Shout Out also to all Warner Employees, for keeping us safe and providing services under sometimes difficult conditions, including under-staffing, and weather emergencies.

Warner Brook Trout Monitoring: The Conservation Commission says "A big Thank You to the volunteers that participated in stream monitoring this year to collect data from 7 streams in Warner. These fun and educational outings take water quality measurements and count the variety of macroinvertebrates living in the streams. The measurements help determine the viability for brook trout. Training for new volunteers will be announced in April/May of 2025. Gratitude also for guidance from NH Fish and Game, the Warner Conservation Commission, the Warner River Local Advisory Committee and to the Basil Woods Chapter of Trout Unlimited for providing equipment."

Safety Reminders: Please drive slowly in Town Center, especially around 3 pm when our School students are walking home, and/or may be chasing stray balls that roll into the street from the playground!

Please PULL OVER asap if you see red flashing lights behind you: last weekend multiple fire trucks were slowed in responding to a major call due to vehicles that did not pull over.

Recycling and Transfer Station news: Reduce Warner's tipping fees by sorting Metal, Aluminum, Mixed paper and corrugated cardboard which earn $$ AND reduce tipping costs. Warner recycles plastics #1 and #2 (clear/green and laundry)

Salad and berry "clamshell" style boxes are not recyclable.

There is no longer a market for recycling #5 plastic (like those Dunkin' or McDonalds beverage cups), so please use refillable containers if possible.
