The tent was "off limits" while she tended her eggs and will remain so until her babies take flight. A gift of joy from Mother Nature!

Want to help plan Warner’s 250th Birthday (Sestercentennial) celebration in 2024? Come to a planning meeting TONIGHT Thursday June 2nd at 7 pm at the Warner Town Hall. Should it just be a week-long event or events throughout the year? How can we celebrate it during the Fall Foliage Festival? We need ideas and people willing to help organize events. You don’t need to know Warner’s history as you will learn it as we go along. The Warner Historical Society has a committee researching and writing Warner’s history from 1974 to 2024. The society will also be planning an exhibit commemorating Warner’s past and present for that summer. Let’s make this a fun and creative event!

Jokes are flowing already when people spy the library's newest feature which arrived this week: two privacy booths. The Poppin Pod booths have been installed in place of two open computer desks, which will provide better privacy options for people engaged in oral exchanges such as phone calls or online discussions for telehealth, job interviews, classes, or Zoom meetings.
They are surprisingly roomy.
The booths were purchased thanks to federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the New Hampshire State Library, as well as funds raised by The Circle of Friends of Pillsbury Free Library.

by Roger Robbins
In 1929, writer E. B. White married Katherine Angell. With her, Katherine brought her 9-year-old son, Roger. Stepfather and Stepson wrote some of the best stories in America in the 20th Century.
E. B. White
For anyone who has ever tried to write effectively, The Elements of Style, co-authored by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White, has proven a powerful, plain-spoken tool.
Roger Angell
A long-time writer and fiction editor for The New Yorker, Roger Angell raised baseball writing to an art.
Sports historian Richard Crepeau said the baseball story "Gone for Good" from Angell's book Five Seasons, "may be the best piece that anyone has ever written on baseball or any other sport." Another writer said Roger Angell's prose was so good he could "make a paper clip sing."

Fourteen-year-old Dita is one of the many imprisoned by the Nazis at Auschwitz. When Jewish leader Freddy Hirsch asks Dita to take charge of the eight precious books the prisoners have managed to smuggle past the guards, she agrees. And so Dita becomes the secret librarian of Auschwitz, responsible for the safekeeping of the small collection of titles, as well as the ‘living books’ - prisoners of Auschwitz who know certain books so well, they too can be ‘borrowed’ to educate the children in the camp. Nowhere are books more dangerous than in Block 31 of Auschwitz, the children’s block, where the slightest transgression can result in execution, no matter how young the transgressor…

Narrator Jason Culp relies on careful modulation to convey this nuanced, comprehensive examination of a dangerous time in twentieth-century history—the period of the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Culp delivers the words of famous leaders such as Stalin, Kennedy, and Reagan with slight accents or impressions. To varying degrees, both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. employed propaganda, and he delivers the most blatant examples with suitable hints of sarcasm.
