Happy New Year from the Library Staff! Let's make it a kind and wonder-filled year!

Kearsarge School Budget Deliberative Session on Sat. January 4th at 9 AM, will be held at Kearsarge Regional High School, 457 North Rd., Sutton, NH. A petition by 25 citizens will be discussed and voted on. The vote at this session will determine if Kearsarge Regional School District will be required to institute a budget cap limiting the district's budget to $27,000 per student in 2026-27. If adopted, this could reduce the 2026-27 budget by over $10 million, or approximately a 17% cut. It would be up to the school board and budget committee to determine what is cut. The $27,000 per-student figure is lower than actual costs, so the SAU says it could require closing schools and dismissing 85-95 teachers/staff, which would also increase class sizes. Cuts could also lead to the removal of sports, electives, and other non-core programs, and/or Transportation services for students could be significantly reduced.

This petition and other budget articles will be discussed and voted on, Saturday Jan. 4.

The Warner Fire Rescue have had a busy week or two with many calls, often in the middle of the night and for many hours of grueling wok. THANK YOU to our volunteer Department!

Have you checked your smoke detectors and CO detectors have current batteries and are less than 10 yrs old? This has been one of the worst years in recent history for fire and CO deaths in NH. Check them and test them regularly. The Assessing Office will be closed 1/6-1/9. New Hours for the Assessing and Building Department will be starting Jan. 13, 2025: 9-4 Mon & Wed, 9-6 Tues and 7-7 Thurs.

Update on Revaluation 2025:

The initial data collection is complete. Now all of that information will be uploaded into the Avitar CAMA (computer assisted mass appraisal) system. Once this lengthy process is complete all properties that missed their data collector's visit will receive a letter asking if they'd like to set up an appointment for someone to assess the interior of their home/buildings/structures.

Simultaneously we will also be updating all properties in current use and recertifying all exemptions or credits. [Important Note - All current use landowners should be prepared to submit an updated map of their property that includes all areas in and out of current use. You will receive a letter requesting this information - we are here to help, please feel free to stop in, email, or call with any questions.]

This is a long process that is not near completion - there will be plenty of chances to review and talk about the updated assessments with our new Assessors when the project is much closer to being complete. Thank you for all the patience and help through this process.

The Festival of Trees: The UN-decorating is scheduledto be finished Friday 1/3. We ask that the trees be disassembled and placed in the boxes. The trees will be returned to the attic on Saturday 1/4 from 2:30-3:30pm; please come by and give a a hand!

Winter Parking Ban: The Town of Warner's Parking Ordinance is in effect and states that no vehicle may be left on any street, road, or highway in the Town of Warner between the hours of 12:00 a.m. midnight and 6:00 a.m., from November 1st until May 1st. Any vehicle in violation of this ban will be towed away at the owner’s expense.

Area CFA Groups - Accepting New Members:

Photography Café: area photographers getting together to share a common interest in photography and photographic art on the second Thursday of each month starting at 6:00pm. Meetings take place at the Tracy Memorial Library in New London, virtually via Zoom, a location for photo shoots, or one of the member’s homes (to be announced well in advance). Art Critique: This group meets every second Tuesday of the month from 2:00–4:00 pm at CFA's space (428 Main St.) in New London. Artists are welcome to bring something they're working on or a painting they've finished. Library Trustee meetings include the Monthly Board Meeting on the third Tuesday of each month (at 6:30 pm, in person). Various Committee meetings, some that meet monthly, vary in schedules.

The library is giving away furniture: We are replacing our original 1890s Table and chairs and need to find homes for them. For free. Chairs are large.

The table is 107" long and 44"W x 31" H. Original, but a laminate top was added, a very durable surface. There are small drawers on both long sides. Very sturdy
