Information about vaccinations:
Be sure to bring proof of NH residency to your appointment!
Watch out for vaccination scams.
VAMS emails from the CDC about your vaccination appointment: You need to opt into receiving CDC/VAMS texts or emails WHILE REGISTERING with the VAMS site. If you receive a text message about a vaccine prior to ever registering, this is not right. AFTER registering you will get an email or text from VAMS/CDC to make your appointment, which some people think looks like spam so check carefully!
Some people are getting calls or letters from multiple health offices to say they are eligible to sign up for vaccination. You may be on the list at several places, but only need to sign up once! If in doubt, go to the official site or call 211.
You can register a qualifying household member along with yourself (ie. spouse) to receive the vaccine at the same time, if you want.
Current cases of Covid-19 in Warner: 1-4 active cases, with a total of 117 cases so far, an increase of 4 from last week's newsletter.
Highest Honors: Hayden G Manning Honors: John S Klucinec, Isabelle G Mann and Emma K Sauerwein.

Following Bills in the NH Legislature
|
|
Want to watch "how the sausage is made" in NH as laws are proposed and discussed? Or learn how to add your voice to the discussion?
Each committee will have a Zoom link that is used for its full schedule of hearings on a given day. If you merely want to observe and listen to a hearing, you just need to find the right day and committee on the House calendar or Senate calendar, click on the link, enter your name and e-mail address, and wait to be admitted to the meeting.
To speak at a hearing, or to register a position without speaking, go to the House testimony instructions or Senate testimony instructions (links are on the right side of the General Court home page). Note that although the instructions look similar, they are not interchangeable—i.e., you must use the House link for a House hearing and the Senate link for a Senate hearing. There is also a Youtube channel to watch hearings live!
The bulletin contains many more details about this process and about bills affecting municipalities. For other Bills, or to find your Representatives, go to gencourt.state.nh.us.

Making a New Reading List? Consider These...
by Roger Robbins
Do you have books you want to read, you know you should read, but haven't? Time to start a new list! As you do, consider these worthy authors/titles.
Fiction
Herman Wouk's timeless classic of Captain Queeg and his crew's revolt.
By Andre Dubus, one of the premier short story writers of the twentieth century.
Non-Fiction
Truman Capote's searing true life account of murder in Kansas in 1959. This volume, called a "non-fiction" novel, set the standard for the true crime genre.
Rachel Carson's classic 1962 warning of how man's environmental folly, if unchecked, could have fatal consequences. Still relevant today.
Evan Connell's masterful account of General George Custer and the Little Bighorn.
By Bruce Catton, one of the best Civil War writers. Catton has the ability to bring history alive, to put you right there.
Remember, we can borrow titles not in our collection. Just ask!
WATCH
Warner Historical Society's Jan. 27 Community Conversation about I-89 is now up on their YouTube channel. It starts with a bit of history (with pictures) about the highway and the houses that were lost because of construction. Then people share their memories.
