Kearsarge Regional School Board
Varrick Proper reports that the Sutton/Warner Household Hazardous Waste Collection Sat. Nov. 7, was very well attended with a total of 110 site visits yielding 299 units of waste, a unit of waste being 5 gallons or 25 lbs of material. Unfortunately due to the volume of waste exceeding our budget and the collecting vendors capacity, we had to close the event before the scheduled end time. We did see a quantity of material come in that could be disposed of by other means. For example, latex paint when dried and made solid can go in regular household waste, also the Transfer Station accepts waste automotive oil and anti freeze anytime. There is no need to retain these items for the next collection event.
Stay tuned for ideas for Holiday season community decoration ideas and local options for seasonal shopping.
"SHOP LOCAL, Shop Early" to avoid shipping issues and support your local businesses and artisans.
Virtual Job Fair: The five chambers of commerce of the Dartmouth Lake Sunapee Region (Claremont, Lake Sunapee Region, Kearsarge Area, Newport Chambers and Upper Valley Business Alliance) have partnered with the NH Dept. of Business & Economic Affairs/NH Employment Security to hold a regional virtual job fair on Tuesday, November 17 from 4-7 PM. They will be using the BoothCentral platform which allows employers to take resumes, hold private interviews, and provide handouts. There is no cost to participate - this program is being funded by a CARE ACT grant from NH BEA. Employers can apply for a booth and job seekers can register on-line.

Main Street: New Trees, Sidewalk Renewal
|
|
 |
Two trees were planted on Nov. 6 at the Warner Historical Society's Upton Chandler House Museum by Pellettieri Associates Inc. A "yellowwood" tree like the one at the Jim Mitchell Memorial Park patio by BookEnds was planted to replace the aged tree recently removed for safety. Yellowwood have nice foliage, white flowers in the spring, are slow growing, and like full sun all day. An anonymous donor is paying for the trees and lawn repair. "We can't wait to see them bloom in the spring!"

The Public Works Department has been taking advantage of the current warm period to replace and level the bricks in the sidewalk near the library, starting on Depot Street. This will greatly improve the effectiveness of the sidewalk snow plowing, and reduce any trip hazards. Thank you to the Selectboard and to DPW Director Tim Allen for selecting this project to finish out the season. It will make a huge difference in the safety of pedestrians, and library users picking up their items in all seasons.
