Library funding updates: The New Hampshire State Library has received official award notification for the full and anticipated amount of IMLS Grants to States Funds. This provides for federally funded services through 09/30/2026.

The GAO, a non-partisan federal agency, reached a decision about Executive Order 14238 issued on March 14, 2025 which included an order relating to IMLS funding.

InDepth offers this summary of where the NH budget and other committees of conference stand. The $300,000 cut to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (which includes the NH State Library) remains in effect. Combined with other cuts the DNCR has already made, this represents a 22% cut to the Department’s state funding.

Ousted Librarian of Congress Dr. Carla Hayden appeared on CBS Sunday Morning.

The Library book discussion group meets on the 2nd Wed. each month at 1:30 pm in the library. All are welcome! The library has copies to borrow, up to 4 weeks before the meetings.
