Abenaki Trails Project
The Nulhegan band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation created this project with the goal of helping to educate the general public and share a cultural exchange with the Abenaki people, to visibly honor and share a more inclusive history of the Abenaki people, to highlight historical Abenaki sites and to accentuate the positive influences Abenaki have had with Colonial America and the towns they continue to live in today.
In the recent Concord-Sunapee Rail Trail survey for a future section in Warner, 17 people suggested signage be included in Abenaki language. Work is under way to develop the wording for such signs.

Ann, Anne, and Andre: Great Authors at the Library!
Roger Robbins
Ann Patchett is a talented writer whose books are filled with words and images that stick in the mind. I read Bel Canto years ago, and still recommend it. The Magician's Assistant (which can be ordered through interlibrary loan) has a haunting quality which keeps drawing me back. In another Patchett classic, State of Wonder, the reader is taken into the Amazon jungle and, by slow degrees, has the facade of civilization stripped away.
Anne Tyler 's quirky characters bend but do not break. They chug along, caught in their own troubles or in sticky situations they stumble into, and then they persevere: with humor and high hopes, with tears often leading to triumph. Start your Anne Tyler journey with Saint Maybe and you'll be hooked.
Andre Dubus was one of the outstanding short story writers of the twentieth century. His realism, his use of language, the tensions he creates, make his work riveting. His son, Andre Dubus III is also a talented writer, author of House of Sand and Fog (also on DVD).
Remember, we can borrow titles not in our collection. Just ask!
