Warrant Article #21
Included in the many Warrant Articles to be voted on at Town meeting (full Warrant HERE) you will find one for the Library's Building Renovation and Repair Capital Reserve Fund (CRF). Similar Articles have been approved each year since the fund was established, helping to match grant funds and to keep the building in good condition. The fund is currently being built up to enable the installation of a new HVAC system to replace and/or supplement the aging heating system (almost 30 years old) and cooling system (over 20 years old).
The amount requested in the Warrant this year will bring the CRF amount to about $25,000 less than the most current (September 2021) cost estimate. The Library Board of Trustees hopes to secure other funding for the remaining amount needed.
Warrant Article 21: Library Building Renovation and Repair CRF
Shall the town vote to raise and appropriate $69,000 (Sixty-nine Thousand Dollars) to be placed in the previously established Library Building Renovation and Repair Capital Reserve Fund? (Recommended by the Board of Selectmen, 3-0; Recommended by the Budget Committee, 7-0).

A big thank you from Warner Historical Society to Darryl Parker for donating his collection of Roche Ceramics made right here in Warner by Walter Roche.
Do you have any Roche ceramics WHS should document? Please contact the WHS office: info@warnerhistorical.org.
Walter (Wally) and Barbara Roche moved to Warner in 1954 with their children Chris, Michael, Kathleen, and Sue. Wally had graduated with a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1949 and headed to Indiana where he was employed as an industrial designer. Barbara had also been a design major at RISD. Their home in Warner was in the Waterloo District at the previous home of Nehemiah Ordway, former Governor of the Dakota Territories. The Roche Ceramics studio was in the huge barn attached to the rambling main house. Eventually Wally taught ceramics at Notre Dame College sharing his knowledge of design, clay, glazes, and form. To supplement their income the Roches also operated the Waterloo Bowling Alley located at the foot of the hill in the old Waterloo Train Station (Now Brayshaw Printing Co.).

COVID News
New CDC masking guidelines have been revised:
Note that recommendations are dependent on local transmission and hospitalization levels: about 28% of people in the United States live in a county where they need to wear masks in public indoors. Merrimack County is currently rated as Medium risk by the CDC County Check Tool (based on hospitalizations and deaths.)
"People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask."

Note that On the CDC covid-19 data tracker site https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view it still shows all NH counties as: "Community Transmission - High"
.
Warner's new cases reported: 5 more since last Thursday, 1-4 active as of 03/03/22.  Total so far 614. www.wmur.com/article/covid-19-cases-nh-town/37155089#. Note that positive Home tests are often not added to the system.

FREE at- home rapid tests available from https://www.covidtests.gov/ are still available. Tests are also available to buy at NH Liquor stores, and Insurance companies should cover a set number of test kits per month - check with your insurance to find if they are supplying tests or reimbursing for your purchases. Medicare now covers kits.

Also available: free N95 masks at some major pharmacies, 3 per visit.

Town by Town vaccination data:
Merrimack County (per CDC): 70.1% fully vaccinated over age 5.

The Royals - they fascinate us with their history, with their pomp and majesty, with their compelling personal stories. Sample the Royals at the Pillsbury Free Library.

The Kings
Did Richard III kill his nephews to stay in power? Was Henry VIII - The Tudor King - as brutal and as overbearing as history portrays him?
Meet the man, follow his story. Was King George III really mad? What was his private life like? How did King George VI overcome his terrible stutter to lead England during World War II?

The Queens
Queen Elizabeth I (Henry VIII's daughter) was tough. An unmarried woman who led her nation to victory against mighty Spain, and who ruled for 45 years! Queen Victoria reigned from 1837 to 1903, a glorious leader who for long years missed the love of her life, Prince Albert (died 1861). Queen Elizabeth II has reigned since 1952 and has left her mark as the only monarch most of us have ever known. The modern Royal family with Queen Elizabeth as head is explored in the television series The Crown.

Rural Voices Edited by Nora Carpenter
For most of America's history, rural people and culture have been casually mocked, stereotyped, and, in general, deeply misunderstood. Now an array of short stories, poetry, graphic short stories, and personal essays, along with anecdotes from the authors' real lives, dives deep into the complexity and diversity of rural America and the people who call it home. From a mountain town in New Mexico to the gorges of New York to the arctic tundra of Alaska, you'll find yourself visiting parts of this country you might not know existed--and meet characters whose lives might be surprisingly similar to your own.

Rural Voices is nominated for the 2022 Isinglass Awards! To be nominated for this award, it must be voted on by 7th-8th graders in New Hampshire and must be a standalone fiction or nonfiction book. If Rural Voices is your favorite on the list, make sure to give it a vote when voting time arrives!
Make sure to check out the other Flume Award Nominees and Isinglass Award Nominees or some great reads and to cast your vote in April for your favorite nominee! Voting for both awards happens in April, so make sure to check in for the voting link in March!
