At Wahoo Elementary we help children recognize positive attributes within themselves, and develop these talents with a growth mindset.
Students with a growth mindset: 1) EMBRACE Challenges, 2) LEARN from feedback, 3) PERSIST through setbacks, 4) are INSPIRED by the success of others, and 5) value EFFORT as the path to mastery

Personal Devices
Many families send their child to school with a personal device of some kind (cell phone, iPod, high-tech watch). Often, parents do this as a safety measure so students can call/text as they travel between school and home. However, the growing number and types of these devices pose a significant distraction during school hours. Moving forward, all devices (including watches) that have the ability to text/call will be kept in backpacks from 7:45 to 3:15. Students are not to use these devices until they leave the elementary building.

COVID-19 Exposures & School Attendance
As of January 2022, Wahoo Public Schools is no longer issuing these letters of potential exposures at school.
In the event of an out-of-school exposure to COVID-19, these school expectations remain:
- Student may continue attending school while monitoring for the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, fever, chills, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or fatigue.
- If a student with a confirmed exposure develops symptoms from this list, contact the child's medical provider right away and notify School Nurse, Josh Trutna. The child will likely be expected to isolate away from school for 10 days.
