Warrior News: October 2021

At Wahoo Elementary, we work to identify each child's positive attributes, and help him/her develop these talents with a growth mindset.

Students with a growth mindset: 1) EMBRACE Challenges, 2) LEARN from feedback, 3) PERSIST through setbacks, 4) are INSPIRED by the success of others, and 5) value EFFORT as the path to mastery

Personal Devices at School
Many families send their child to school with a personal device of some kind (cell phone, iPod, high-tech watch). Often, parents do this as a safety measure so students can call/text as they travel between school and home. However, the growing number and types of these devices pose a significant distraction during school hours. Moving forward, all devices (including watches) that have the ability to text/call will be kept in backpacks from 7:45 to 3:15. Students are not to use these devices until they leave the elementary building.
Lunch: Social Distancing & Visitors
Wahoo Public Schools remains a mask-choice environment. Since masking is not possible during meals, K-5 students are seated with one empty seat between peers (4 per table) at breakfast and lunch.

Parents/visitors are welcome to eat with their children at lunch as long as social distancing guidelines (every other seat) is adhered to. Please contact Mr. Kreifels directly if you have questions.

Wahoo Elementary to launch
WATCH D.O.G.S. Chapter in 21-22
In cooperation with our PTO Chapter, Wahoo Elementary is pleased to announce the beginning of our local WATCH D.O.G.S. program this month! WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative. The program aims to provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important, and to provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security. Use the links provided to get the full details of the program and to email Grady Gigstad, Program Coordinator a.k.a "TOP DOG." Additional questions can be directed to Mrs. Cindy Klepper, K-6 School Counselor.
