Warriors for a Cure

Did you know approximately, every three minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with Leukemia, Lymphoma, or Myeloma? Every nine minutes someone in the US dies from one of these blood cancers. It is stats like this that led us to want to join The LLS Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign!

Student Visionaries is a philanthropic leadership program happening now through March 14. Along with 20 other high school teams in the Cincinnati tristate, we are raising funds with a vision in mind of a better world, one without blood cancers. For the past several years, Mariemont has had a team of student-led visionaries. We hope to keep this team going for years to come!

Our team, Warriors for a Cure, has around 30 members, consisting mostly of classmates and some family. We have been friends since preschool and when we were in Pre-K, our classmate, Audrey, was diagnosed with Leukemia. This was very scary for our classmates to see her so sick. Thank you to The Dare to Dream LLS project, kids now are suffering less grueling treatments that Audrey suffered, to be healthy.

Another reason we decided to lead Warriors for a Cure is to honor our soccer and lacrosse teammate’s mom. Thanks to LLS research, treatment, and support, she was able to fight the disease and currently is in remission. Unfortunately, we now have an even bigger reason to fight harder to raise money.  One of our LLS member’s and classmate’s father was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and we want to help fight to find a cure.

We now need your help! It is our goal to raise $80,000 to continue to support LLS research to fight these horrible cancers and those affected in our community.
