2nd Grade Wax Museum

Second graders recently brought history to life during the annual Wax Museum project! Students researched a historical figure, wrote their own speeches and transformed into their chosen person for a special presentation for families and community members.

Superintendent Estepp stopped by ME to talk with second grade teacher Beth Rich-Blumer about the project and to hear from a few of the students about who they became for the day. Take a look at this fun tradition in action!

Hydration & The Brain

Did you know that even mild dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches, and a decrease in a child’s ability to concentrate? According to the National Academy of Medicine, water is the most essential nutrient for keeping a child’s brain alert and ready to learn. Since kids often don't recognize thirst until they are already dehydrated, encouraging a "water-first" habit can significantly impact their energy levels throughout the school day. Simple strategies, like sending a reusable water bottle to school or adding a slice of lemon for flavor, make staying hydrated more appealing. Choosing water over sugary drinks also helps maintain steady energy levels without the "sugar crash" later in the afternoon. Check out the guide here for age-specific hydration tips.
