WARRIOR WEEKLY Apr 11th - Apr 15th
Happy Spring Break, Warriors,

We are in the home stretch. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you as we support your student's learning and growth. We are thankful that our community has maintained our health and learned more about one another during the process.

We are also thankful for the break that we have ahead of us. Each of our students and team members has earned it.

During this break, we ask all members of our community to be thoughtful about when and how they are working to keep us all healthy upon our return. As the new coronavirus variant is becoming more dominant in the District, we hope you will leverage the use of masks, and please stay home if you are not feeling well. We also want to remember that all community members are expected to report their rapid test Sunday, April 17, for return to our school post-spring break.

This quarter will move fast. We can't wait to celebrate with you at the end of the year!

Please remember that all students and staff need to take a rapid test Sunday, April 17, before returning to classes. Families will submit student test results to this linkhttps://forms.gle/UcmjWj3Jbppbw2Cr6. Please check with your student for the COVID-19 test kit provided to them or visit a District COVID Center or a Rapid Test Pickup site to receive one. If you have other questions about rapid testing, please check our FAQ here.

Student Opportunities

Paid Summer Fellowship Opportunity for Students

  • Mikva Challenge DC aims to connect young people in DC with opportunities to become engaged, active and informed citizens and to help elevate youth perspectives and ideas. With our Summer Fellows Program, we place students in paid summer fellowship positions in local government offices for 20 hours a week during the summer. Guided and supervised by Mikva Challenge DC staff, student fellows conduct a research project to gather youth input on a specific policy issue.

  • Fellows conduct participatory research, gathering youth perspectives, ideas and concerns on a key policy issue. In addition to their hours working in public officials’ offices, student fellows will attend weekly Mikva DC professional development workshops where they develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills.

  • In addition to the hourly pay through the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program, you are also eligible to receive up to a $500 stipend from Mikva Challenge at the end of the program! The 6-week program runs from June 27 - August 5th, 2022.

Athletics- All Conference

Freshman athlete Mansur Hussein a member of our Varsity Basketball Team was voted "Honorable Mention" to the PCSAA All Conference Team! Mansur persevered through a tough season, coming out of the pandemic, and consistently left it all on the court in every game.

Head Varsity Coach Mike Aiken states: "Mansur Hussein played Varsity & started as a freshman for our TMA Warriors. Mansur is a hard worker in practice, and in the games. He’s a very coachable young man, and is willing to be taught to enhance his skill set. The coaching staff and his teammates are very proud of this major accomplishment. This is a true testimony that hard work pays off, and it doesn’t go unrecognized!"

CONGRATULATIONS MANSUR! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!
