A Message from The Principal
|
|
Dear Parents,
We are committed to providing ongoing quality professional development to our instructional staff. This week the faculty of Coyle and Cassidy and Bishop Connolly gathered together for a highly engaging STEM Visioning Session led by Dr. Matt Kloser and Dr. Mia Dubosarsky.
Dr. Kloser is the founding director of the University of Notre Dame Center for STEM Education and an associate professor and Fellow of the Institute for Educational Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Dubosarsky has been a science and STEM educator for more than 24 years, and currently leads the Professional Development group at WPI’s STEM Education Center. In this role, she oversees the development and facilitation of STEM-focused professional development workshops for PK-12 teachers and administrators across the Country and internationally. We are extremely fortunate to partner with professionals of this caliber. In addition to academic and programmatic growth, we are committed to developing our spiritual growth. On Friday, educators from around the diocese gathered together at Bishop Connolly High School to celebrate liturgy with Bishop daCunha and participate in a day of spiritual reflection. The time and effort dedicated by our staff to ongoing professional and spiritual development is to be commended.
I hope that all of our families enjoy the weekend.
Sincerely,
Kathleen St.Laurent
Principal

NHS Toy Service and NHS Gift Shop
|
Each year the National Honor Society sponsors a Gift Shop for local children who would not otherwise receive gifts for Christmas. Our entire student body supports this endeavor by donating a new toy. Many of our students volunteer on the day of the event. Last year more than 500 children were helped by this amazing program. The Thanksgiving break would be a good time to look for your special gift.
• The NHS Toy Service will be held on the Feast of St. Nicholas, December 6. The entire school community will be attending and presenting their donation of new toys at the service. We are looking for new toys for infants and toddlers to age 13, books, DVDs, stocking stuffers, board games, and stuffed animals.
• The NHS Gift Shop will be held on Saturday, December 14. More information will be forthcoming.
• If you are connected to a business or an organization that would be willing to assist by collecting toys for the Gift Shop, please share the attached flyer with them. The contact person is Mr. Haskell,

Summer 2021 Trip to Dublin, London, and Paris
|
An educational tour is being planned through ACIS to Dublin, London, and Paris in the summer of 2021. Travelling abroad adds further context and deepens connections to classroom material as well as reinforces concepts learned in the foreign language program. School trips form long-lasting, positive memories for students and gives them a chance to participate in the culture. There will be an informational meeting for all interested Coyle and Cassidy students in grades 8-12 and parents on November 18 at 6:00 pm in the school auditorium. All are welcome to attend with no commitment necessary. We look forward to seeing you there! If you cannot make the informational session, please contact Mrs. deMatos,
