Happy Black History Month, Families,

We are proud of our young people and team's work every day! We also know that authentic learning comes from taking action, reflecting on the outcome, and revising efforts to make a plan stronger. This quarter, TMA is pushing all students to increase class engagement and complete independent assignments. We know this quarter can seem complicated; as such, we want our Warriors to leverage the resources at home and school to help them accelerate learning in the third quarter. This includes homework help and office hours offered daily. 

In two weeks, we will spend time with you discussing ways we can work together to support your student through the end of the year. Our Open House (Family Conferences) are designed to ensure all are on the same page and plan for your student. Please lookout for a separate email with details of how to participate.

Let's be Inspired
Pathways 2 Power leaders Lauryn Renford (Class of 2019) and Destini Walker (Class of 2022) featured in one episode of a seven-part documentary telling the "stories of humans under 21 who are changing the narrative on what's possible for their age"
Over the next seven weeks, one episode will be released featuring amazing young people from across the country and the brave and inspiring things they are doing. Destini, Lauryn and the story of Pathways will be the last one released.

2022 GAO-USACE BIG CHAPTER ORATORICAL COMPETITION

THEME: 
Black Health and Wellness

ELIGIBILITY:
Freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior (9th through 12th grades) high school students currently enrolled in Washington, DC, public and charter high schools are eligible to participate. 
 
GUIDELINES:
Students will conduct theme-based research and submit a double-spaced typewritten essay of 700 to 1,000 words expressing their individual thoughts and ideas related to the theme.  

Mandatory Contest Dates:

All participants must submit a Notice of Intent to Participate form with their completed essays by Thursday, February 10, 2022. 

  • The preliminary round will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022,
  •  If selected as a finalist, the final round will be held virtually on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Details regarding the virtual final round will be provided closer to the event’s scheduled date. 
  • All finalists will be notified by 4 pm on February 21, 2022.

Challenge: The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals and initiatives that Black communities have done to maintain health and wellness.
