...BLAST OFF!
Each year excited and highly motivated first through third grade students pace in groups through a daily ninety-minute literacy block called
The Daily 5
. A special Launching Day is scheduled each year to kick off the program. This year on September 5th, the primary students gathered in the hallway to recite (yell!) a special cheer and have fun preparing for the first
Daily 5
rotations of the year. Along with teacher-guided reading groups, the students will participate in five daily literacy tasks throughout the year: Read to Self, Read with Someone, Listen to Reading, Work on Words, and Work on Writing.

The first day of the Middle School retreat was amazing and exhausting!
Activities included tug of war, charades, and several relays, as well as making crafts for Operation Christmas Child. Speaker Mr. Jason Soper encouraged the students to spend time each day with the Lord without distractions. Day two of the retreat will include a trip to Triple C Camp in Charlottesville. Students will be introduced to challenge courses and the ga-ga pit.
