Whenever we begin to get ourselves down over the news and the events around us, we need to shift our vision to the future—to the new heavens and the new earth.
Thanksgiving is next week, and we have a lot to be thankful for.

Thankful.....
As we rapidly approach Thanksgiving week, I am most thankful for all of our GCS Family for loving our school through our recent “mandate” adjustments. These unpredictable changes—having children 5 years old and up wear masks when not at their desks or socially distanced—will be challenging. But the level of commitment, compassion, and understanding expressed through this transition has been most encouraging! We have an amazing community!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Mrs. Morel

We are so appreciative of parents calling us before 7:30 AM to inform us when their student(s) may be late to school or will be absent and then following that up with an email to provide us with the details.
Beginning on Friday, November 19, all future emails related to attendance issues should be sent to [email protected]. Not only will this make it easier for our parents to remember when needed, but sending all emails to one address rather than to multiple GCS employees will bring other benefits.

On Monday, November 9th the Grace Christian School chapter of the National Honor Society celebrated our tenth induction ceremony, in which we honored our current members and inducted seventeen new candidates. During the ceremony, Dr. Larson, our guest speaker, encouraged students to commit their lives to sacrificial love and service and to be leaders who submit to the guidance and authority of others. Our members and candidates then proceeded to the lighting of the candles. “The unlit candles are symbolic of the four requirements upon which election to this Society is based: scholarship, leadership, service, and character,” said Rebecca Bywaters, spring 2020 candidate. Students also read a Bible verse to illustrate each of the four principles and lit a candle to symbolize each principle from a central candle representing God’s wisdom. After the ceremony, students, family members, and staff enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.

PE Personal Workout Hours
|
|
Freshman and sophomore students who are not signed up for winter sports should plan to complete a Personal Workout Form this quarter. Students must log 27 hours of physical activity on the form, and the form must be signed by a parent before being submitted to the front desk by the end of the quarter.
Students who compete in two GCS-affiliated sports this school year will meet their PE requirements. However, a student who plays only one sport must complete 54 hours over two quarters. Students who play no sports must complete 81 total hours over the final three quarters of the year.
These forms can be obtained from Mr. McNair.

Mrs. Donna Kocka has been a blessing to our art students and was an answer to prayer as we were in need of an art teacher just days before the beginning of the school year. She did this sacrificially, as she already had a very busy schedule and stressed that she would only be able to do this for a short time.
We are looking for qualified individuals interested in teaching Introductory Art (Mondays & Tuesdays) and Advanced Art (Thursdays & Fridays) from 2:35-3:20 during this school year. Interested candidates should email our HS principal with a cover letter and a resume/CV. We would also appreciate help from the GCS community with spreading the word about this opportunity.
