A Blessed Christmas
We knew that it was going to be a tough year with the pandemic and governmental restrictions. That is why we began the year with an emphasis on love, according to John 13 and 1 Peter 4.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
(John 13:34-35)

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
(1 Peter 4:7-9)
Enjoy your break!

School Resumes on January 5th
What a beautiful end to 2020!! After many highs and lows, by the grace of God, we made it. Thank you, Lord! And thank you, families, for hanging in there with us!

The joyful faces of your youngsters coming in every day were inspiring to us all. In fact, more often than not, your children told me they would much rather be at school than anywhere else. That alone is worth all it took to be together!

While we hope and pray we will be able to pick up where we left off on January 5th, there is always the potential Governor Northam will send our older students on-line. That is why we sent all books home for grades 4th -8th. While we don’t expect this to be the case, we will be prepared either way.

Grace Christian School is a special place, and each one of our families makes it so! Thank you again for all you do to get your youngsters to school. May God bless each of you this Christmas and in the New Year!!

Blessings,
Cherie Morel
High School News
Juniors & Seniors who have not yet taken an SAT or who hope to improve upon their initial score(s) will want to mark the following dates on their calendars, as these are the remaining dates that the SAT can be taken during this school year.
  • March 13
  • May 8
  • June 5
Especially challenging due to COVID-19 restrictions is finding a nearby location, so students and parents are urged to click the below button to find what locations are open on specific dates.
Parent Volunteers Needed
If you have the ability to volunteer for less than 1 hour once a week to help us with COVID-19 cleaning and/or hot lunch distribution, please email Mr. Kerr. We need help on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with cleaning and Tuesdays with lunch distribution.
Traffic Reminder
When picking up (or dropping off) students along Market Street, even if briefly, please do not do so directly in front of the school property. Doing so blocks the bus lanes, causing many problems, not the least of which is the blocking of traffic and leaving our bus with no clearance.

Even when you don't see a bus on the horizon, please do not block the bus lanes, as the City of Staunton has posted signs indicating that those spaces are only for buses. Instead, pull into a different parking spot to unload/load.
Attendance
All emails related to attendance are to be sent to [email protected]. This not only simplifies the process for parents, but it also benefits the GCS employees who handle attendance matters.
Important Dates
Jan. 4 - Teachers return to school

Jan. 5 - Students return to school
Athletics Update
Our JVB, VG, and VB have gotten off to a strong start. Our MSG, JVG, and MSB teams are beginning games as well. Please check us out on our GCS Athletics Facebook page.
Our MS and Varsity Wrestling teams continue to practice under the direction of Coach Josh Palumbo. We pray that our upcoming matches will be held. We look forward to varsity matches at Fishburne and Covington in January. We also hope to host Randolph Macon Academy and Alleghany County on February 2nd.
Fine Arts Update
THE NUTCRACKER

GCS dancers!

Megan Kilmer, GCS senior, danced the role of Clara this year. She has been dancing for over a decade, and she refused to let COVID take any of her joy in this major accomplishment!
You are invited to enjoy this year's Shenandoah Civic Dance Company's performance of
The Nutcracker.
The recording will premiere online via the link below on Saturday, December 19, at 7 PM. There is no cost to view the performance, and the recording will remain available after the premiere.
