Ohio State University built the Wexner Center for the Arts upon postmodern theory. Its disjointed style includes castle turrets, modern glass, traditional brick, and scaffolding. There are columns that do not touch the floor and stairs that lead nowhere.

Electives
The drop/add period for second-semester electives will be open from Monday, January 25 through Wednesday, February 3.

A small number of open-roster slots are available in Conversational German on Mondays and Tuesdays and Advanced Art on Thursdays and Fridays. (See announcement below.)

Drop/Add forms are available outside of Mr. McNair's office during the drop/add period and should be submitted to Mr. McNair's box.
Advanced Art
We are so grateful for Mrs. Donna Kocka stepping up to teach both art classes during the first semester. From the beginning, she communicated that she was able to do this only until we could find someone else.

Thankfully, Mrs. Jill Bywaters has committed to teaching Advanced Art for the second semester, and she is looking forward to "expanding upon the students' previous knowledge of the elements and principles of art by applying their skills to projects in areas such as printmaking, sculpture, and pottery."

There are still 2 slots available for any students wishing to add this elective; however, students must have already passed the Introductory Art course and must submit an Add/Drop Form to Mr. McNair by February 3.
Student Meetings with Guidance Counselor
In the second semester, Mr. McNair will hold individual guidance meetings with each HS student. This will give students a platform to discuss their current school year and also plan for next year.

Meetings with seniors will be scheduled first, followed by freshmen, then sophomores. Juniors will meet with Mr. McNair during guidance class. Most meetings will be scheduled on Fridays during 5th and 6th periods, and specific meeting times will be posted outside Mr. McNair's office.
SAT Math Workshop
GCS is pleased to welcome the Bob Jones University Math Team on Feb. 26 to lead an SAT Math workshop for juniors and seniors from 1st through 3rd periods.

All juniors should plan to participate in this workshop, and seniors who will be taking the SAT after Feb. 26 are strongly encouraged to attend.

Seniors who do not attend this and have sign-out privilege may arrive after 3rd period on this date.
Volunteers
If you have the ability to volunteer for less than one hour once a week to help with COVID-19 cleaning and/or hot lunch distribution, please email Mr. Kerr. Help is needed on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays with cleaning and Tuesdays with lunch distribution.
