Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
By Donald M. Larson, PhD

In chapel this week, the HS hosted the 8th-grade students, and we talked about St. Patrick. When most of us think about St. Patrick’s Day, we think of shamrocks, wearing green, getting pinched if we don’t wear green, green libations, and parades. As our nation turns aggressive against our faith, we should take every opportunity we have to remember and celebrate the lives of the faithful. Hebrews gives us our first Hall of Faith, and we have had many since then. St. Patrick is one of the faithful who we can celebrate.
"Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ inquired, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger."

Great Escape (Spring)
On Friday, March 26, HS students and faculty will leave GCS after 3rd-period classes to travel to Victory Worship Center to enjoy activities, lunch (provided by GCS), and learn about "Godly Relationships."

Parents should pick up their HS students from VWC (200 Hammond Lane, Staunton) after 3:20 PM. Riders of the Waynesboro shuttle will be picked up from this location.
Senior Appreciation Day
Also on Friday, March 26, we are celebrating Senior Appreciation Day. During 1st period seniors will enjoy a Senior Breakfast prepared by Mrs. Artley and other senior parent volunteers (don't avoid answering her calls or responding to her texts). Then from 1:00-1:50 PM, in the midst of the Great Escape, we will have the Senior Appreciation (Roast) Assembly. Senior parents are invited to attend this assembly, which is being held in Victory Worship Center's sanctuary (see address above).
8th-Grade Visit
8th graders Zeke, Violet, and David have a conversation in the high school meeting room.
Middle school students play a trivia game with Principal Jim Kerr.
Eliana picks up Chick-fil-A lunch with
her classmates.
High school student leaders decorated the entire walkway with chalk, signs, and balloons!
Yesterday the HS enjoyed hosting GCS 8th-grade students for part of the day. It started off with some games, a welcome, and two HS students explaining the biggest differences between their own MS and HS experiences. Then it was off to observe a pre-selected class, attend chapel about Saint Patrick led by Dr. Larson, observe another class, enjoy some lunch, and then attend a Q & A session with Mr. Kerr.

Special thanks to Ashland Allred, Rebekah Cashion, Patrick Kerr, Megan Kilmer, Caroline Reid, Olivia Taylor, and Nathan Whisman, who "sacrificially" gave up class and/or lunchtime to help welcome the Class of 2025!
Sidney Dickerson enjoys her well-earned prize for answering a Saint Patrick's Day trivia question from Dr. Larson.
