How do you feel after reading the news, watching the news, or talking about the news? Overwhelmed? Discouraged? Infuriated? Betrayed? Do you feel as if things are politicized to the point of hurting relationships? Are you ever struck ....

Parking Lot Safety
We are all ready for summer and wish we could rush it in sooner than later! With this eagerness comes an increased need to be cautious. At drop off and pick up, please use extra caution as you enter and exit the parking lot. I’m recruiting all of our families to help us keep an eye out for children who are too eager to jump in their car or who decide to run across the parking lot to get something they forgot in the classroom. I greatly appreciate your help, and together we’ll see everyone head into summer safely.

The End of the Year is in Sight!
*If your student has been working on the Honors Reading Program, please don't forget to send in their completed forms by May 14th.
*If you are interested in summer workbooks for your students, here are two options:
- Vacation Stations (rising 1st- rising 6th grade) - Students can sharpen their academic skills and prepare for the next grade by doing just two pages a day of math, language, and reading reviews, and parents have a fun way to help their children do meaningful, grade-appropriate practice. Daily work to include both math and language arts.
- Tri-C Summer Skills - Single-subject workbooks in which students can work 10-20 minutes a day, 4 times a week on math or language arts.
If you have questions about these books, please feel free to call the office. If you would like to order books, please fill out the form below and return it to the school by May 10th with a check for the appropriate amount.
*Please complete the form and send it to the office by May 10th.*

Mr. McNair and his freshmen students "took to the streets"; well, actually, our sidewalks, and drew various countries they are learning about in the Middle East unit. See some examples of their cartographic skills below.

Each senior's family will receive 8 tickets per senior to the Graduation Ceremony (Saturday, May 29) to be distributed among themselves (their GCS senior does not need a ticket) and their invited guests. Only GCS seniors, their invited guests, select HS faculty, staff, and administrators, along with the GCS Board of Trustees, will be able to attend this year's ceremony, unless COVID-19 indoor restrictions are loosened or lifted by the state of Virginia.
Additionally, each senior's family will receive 3 tickets to the Senior Garden Party (Friday, May 28 from 6:30-7:15 PM). Only GCS seniors and up to 3 guests may join them for this event, which will then be followed by the Senior Dinner hosted at Emilio's Italian Restaurant in Staunton.
Both sets of tickets along with details about the Senior Trip were distributed last Friday to the seniors during the school day.

Teen Leadership Camps @ Patrick Henry College
|
|
Patrick Henry College is once again hosting their Teen Leadership Camps this summer on-campus and in-person! Each one of these week-long camps provides students ages 14-18 the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers and world-class professors in exploring an exciting subject of their choice. PHC's Teen Camps are a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, learn new things, and spend the summer growing in your relationship with Christ.
If you have any questions, you can pass them along to [email protected], or give our Teen Camp Coordinator, Nathan Pipkin, a call at 540-441-8105.

Students now have an additional opportunity to receive assistance with math during the school day, including being able to work on assigned problems with a teacher who provides immediate feedback and additional instruction.
These labs are scheduled during 6th period on Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:30-3:20 PM. If you have questions about this, please email Mrs. Leetun.
|
|
Our last day of testing is tomorrow, and all students are to arrive at school by 8:00 AM, as we will return to following a full-day bell schedule.
A special schedule has been generated for this week, so please download a .pdf version of it by clicking here.
