ACADEMICS
After a crazy week, we are preparing to go remote next week for grades 4-8. Pre-K will not meet at all, and grades K-3 will have academic practice.

Grade K-3 parents, please watch for an invite to a Google Classroom class if your child is not already in one. Primary teachers are planning to send support items for reading and math practice. These will help your child(ren) stay fresh on what they are learning. No grades will be given during this time.

For grades 4-8, we will have book pick-up tomorrow, Friday 9/18, from 11 AM-5 PM. The teachers will put books into lockers before 11 AM. The buildings have been cleaned, but only a few people will be allowed in the buildings at one time to keep social distancing at a maximum. You will be asked some health-related questions and your temperature will be taken prior to entering the building. Please send only one parent to pick up books.

Those who need Chromebooks should please let us know. You can check those out when you pick up the books.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this time as we figure things out. We appreciate your prayers and support. Know that we are praying for you and your families as well. Please reach out with any questions.

ACADEMICS
One of the benefits of doing on-site education is the more direct interaction between students and teachers, which typically can have more impact. Whether through a small group activity, a one-on-one conversation, or through a special lesson created by the teacher, these teaching moments can reverberate for years to come.
Two examples of what has been going on throughout our building since late August were two separate lessons conducted outside by Mrs. Franki Kilmer and Mrs. Gaby Urgo.

Mrs. Kilmer took both of her Physical Science classes outside so that they could have a tactile learning experience about the metric system. As students walked along the sidewalk, they made calculations based upon the metric unit of measurement written onto the section upon which they were standing.
Mrs. Urgo took her Spanish III students and, later in the day, her Spanish II students outside to participate in an activity wherein they asked questions of one another or provided answers to those questions. This activity did not need to be outside; however, Mrs. Urgo realized that going outside had multiple benefits, including being able to breathe fresh air.
HOT LUNCHES
Beginning on Tuesday, September 22, pizza slices will be sold at the HS on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

To keep the price at $1.50 per slice, we did have to reduce the size of the slices, but we are still ordering from Domino's, and the options are still cheese, pepperoni, or bacon.

Orders may be placed through a written sign-up form at the receptionist's desk on the morning of the Hot Lunch Day. We encourage doing this before 8:00 AM, but as long as orders are placed before 4A/B, that is fine.

Though we are not ready to do so now, it is still the plan to add a different lunch on Wednesdays and to add "salad options" to each Hot Lunch Day.

We are still in need of parent-volunteers on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist with distributing ordered lunches in a safe manner. If you are able to help, please contact Mr. Kerr.
