What’s your perspective of 2020? If your perspective is synonymous with “dumpster fire,” you’re likely in good company. This year seems to have been characterized largely by fear and chaos....What if our perspective on 2020 was formed more by Christ and His Word leading to hope rather than by chaos leading to fear?...What if 2020 is one of the best things that ever happened for the cause of Christ and His kingdom?

Arrival and Dismissal Update

Things are moving along smoothly now for arrival and dismissal.
We will no longer be using staggered arrival and dismissal times.

*Please drop off your students between 7:45 and 8:05 AM.
Students arriving between 7:15 and 7:45 AM will be taken to Before-School Care.
(Charges will be billed to the student's FACTS account.)
*Dismissal is at 3:10 PM. Students remaining at 3:30 PM will be taken to After-
School Care. (Charges will be billed to the student's FACTS account.)
*Please have your students ready to exit the vehicle when you are in the drop-off
line. This will prevent families in line behind you from being delayed.
*In an effort to protect you and our staff, we will not lean into your vehicle to take
student temperatures but will wait until students are outside your vehicle.
*Please continue being mindful about not blocking the neighbors' driveways when
you are in line.
Please continue to use the carpool line instead of parking your vehicle and walking to the building whenever possible. This helps us maintain physical distancing, as students use the entire area around the elementary entrance door while waiting to be picked up. The side parking lot next to the elementary building is reserved as a play area and for Pre-K drop-off and dismissal.
Don't Wait...Please Communicate

As we try to effectively navigate our health concerns and the GCS learning process, it is now more important than ever for parents to communicate with Mrs. Morel (cmorel@gcswarriors.org) and Mandy Wells (mwells@gcswarriors.org) in regard to any absence of your child from physical school or virtual school. If your child is sick, we want to know. In the MS, please let your individual teachers know if your student will not be in class.
Please remember: If in doubt, stay out!
ES/MS Rescheduled Picture Day
See information in All-School Section.
4th-6th Grandparents' Day
Our grandparent's day celebration will look a little different, but we want to celebrate and thank our grandparents nonetheless for the blessing they are to us. Please fill out the Google Form linked below to let us know who to include in our virtual celebration this year.
High School News
PSAT/NMSQT
Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
On Wednesday, October 14, the sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT during the school day.

Information booklets published by the College Board were distributed to students in grades 10 and 11 this past Tuesday, so if your student did not yet receive this, please contact Mr. Kerr via email so that we can get this to her/him.
Dress Code
As we head into the colder months, students will want to wear warmer or layered clothing indoors. Just keep in mind that if wearing a sweatshirt, hoodie, or fleece jacket, these must be GCS apparel and normal dress code tops must still be worn underneath. Of course, appropriate and neat sweaters and indoor jackets are also acceptable.
UPCOMING DATES
Oct. 14 (Wed.) - PSAT/NMSQT (10th & 11th); Early Dismissal (9th- 12th)
Oct. 15 (Thurs.) - HS Photo Day (See order information in All-School section)
Oct. 23 (Fri.) - End of 1st Quarter
Athletics Update
Winter Sports Signups

Please click on the link to sign up for winter sports. We pray that we can have Basketball and Wrestling this year. Please sign up for the team of your grade level. The coaching staff will assign athletes to the proper team, based on ability level and team needs.
Update on the GCS Sports Seasons for 2020-21:
Our conference (VACA) has voted to postpone the Fall Soccer and Volleyball seasons until Spring of 2021. Cross Country has resumed as scheduled and will conclude October 24, with the VACA State Championship. With COVID causing disruption in many schools within the league,
we will attempt to have all seasons
in some form this year.
Following are the approximate
time frames for VACA seasons:
Winter Sports: Early November-Early February
Fall Sports: Early February-Early April
Spring Sports: Early April-Late May
If you have any questions.
please email Frank Kahrs, GCS AD, at fkahrs@gcswarriors.org.
