Tax-Credit Dinner

Would you like to hear about how you can redirect your state tax dollars to support GCS students?

Enjoy dinner on us at the Edelweiss Restaurant on Tuesday, November 1 at 6:00 PM for a short and fun twenty-minute presentation on this must-know VA educational tax credit! Zero pressure or ask, and you are welcome to bring along as many additional adults as you'd like.

We are passionate about sharing this with our supporters, because it is a wonderful way to make your donation go further, and it makes great financial sense for many business owners! Come, and invite your friends! RSVP to Kristen Lihos here.

December Calendar Changes

Due to a scheduling change by Wenonah Elementary School, a large service project of ours has been moved. Please see updated dismissal times on Dec. 9th and 15th. As always, our Google and iOS calendars are updated automatically, and we encourage you to link your digital calendar to them.

Update Calendar: Visit our Website

Place your ORDER HERE by November 20th to receive your specialty items in time for Christmas! We also have replenished and have additional items in stock over at our Online Store. ORDER TODAY! Payment via cash, check, or PayPal for specialty winter items due at pickup. You will be notified via email when your order is ready for pickup at the high school (19 S. Market Street, Staunton, VA 24401).

Winter Coat Donations

It's that time of year when we think about replacing coats that the kids have outgrown or that we no longer use. As your family goes through the closets, please consider bringing in those extra coats to either school. We will be collecting gently-used or new coats of all sizes for the next several weeks to bless the families at Wenonah Elementary School who are not adequately outfitted for colder weather.

Information will be coming very soon about the Wenonah Christmas Project!

Elementary/Middle School News

It's Getting Cold!

Please be sure to send your students with winter coats, hats, and gloves for recess. It has gotten pretty chilly.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The elementary and middle school teachers will be hosting parent-teacher conferences on Thursday evening, November 3rd (1/2 day of school) and Friday, November 4th (no school).  Please sign up for a slot using the link below.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Tomorrow, Oct. 27, is ES/MS Class Photo Day!

Don't forget to send in your class picture ordering envelope or order online.  Students may get a retake, but only if their original pictures are returned.

Shoes for Kenya

For the last thirteen years, our school has been collecting used shoes to support the Well of Hope in Kenya. The goal of this organization is to help the widows of Kenya and their children. It has a vision of providing each homeless woman and her children a place of their own. In Kenya there is a market for lightly-worn American shoes. By giving them shoes to sell, these widows can learn to run a business and earn money to purchase a small plot of land and to put money towards a house. This also provides the widow and her children safety and protection.

If your family has shoes you'd like to donate, please have your kids bring them in to the office. Shoes of any size and style are acceptable!

Middle School Fire-Pot Social

On Friday, November 18 from 5:30-7:30 PM, middle school students are invited to come to the MS campus for an evening of fun! They will enjoy pizza, s'mores, and games.

High School News

Great Escape II

To those who prayed for this event, thank you! God blessed us with wonderful weather, the MS & HS students were abundantly cooperative, our special speaker was dynamic, and many HS students stood at the altar call to communicate their recommitment to God or to enter into a saving relationship with Him!

HS Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents are urged to meet one-on-one with each of their student's teachers on Thursday, Nov. 3 or Friday, Nov. 4.

Specific time slots may be secured by clicking the below button that is linked to an online scheduling form.

If you cannot meet during available times, please email the teacher directly to set up a meeting at an alternate time.

D.C. Trip

High school students and GCS employees, will be touring various venues in our nation's capital on Monday, November 7th.

We will begin boarding buses at the parking lot near the Gypsy Hill Gym at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton at 6:30 AM and return to the same location by 6:30 PM.

Cellphones will be collected as students ride to D.C., but these will be returned to students as they disembark in D.C. Limited texting, calling, and appropriate photo-taking are permissible. However, students should primarily interact with each other, focus on taking in the sights, and learning from the museums, memorials, landmarks, etc.

Students will be divided into small groups; however, groups will always be accompanied by a chaperone.

Warm, layered, "casual dress code" attire is permitted, and students are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.

It is recommended that students bring $20 to pay for lunch at restaurants within the venues, as food cannot be brought into the buildings. Prices are "inflated," so please be aware that this amount may not be sufficient for some. Bringing additional money for souvenirs may also be desirable.
